He's also been a major player in like 3 presidential campaigns so it's odd he's just now being monitored

is it worse than a post dawn raid?

The twitter link you posted shows the loon Louise Mensch saying she reported this already-- it's old news...That the search came up empty because somehow Louise just knows incriminating documents are in Manaforts Florida home.

Don't know much about it but have read FBI prefers pre-dawn raids. Not an expert on it though.

it simply means a judge has been convinced that a search is warranted and some judges are very easy to convince.
In this case, it sounds like there was probable cause for the search. Not sure what you don't understand about this.

he is a high powered lobbyist. all of DC could be searched at dawn and be made to look like some kind of a crook.

Paul Manafort doesn't need any help looking like a crook.

The FBI has been investigating him since 2014. I think it was very odd he got hired in the first place by Trump, I doubt anyone else would have touched him.

quote:Probably, but I think Manafort is shady even by those shady standards. Trump fired him for a reason, which does give him some political leverage to distance himself. Flynn would be much more problematic though politically. I don't think Trump has any legal issues though.

man these liberal commentators are cracking me up with their talking points about this
"if there is a search warrant then there is probable cause that a crime has been committed"
"if the government uses a search warrant it means they feared Manafort may destroy evidence and he wasn't cooperating"
literally arguing against many of their claims related to causes like BLM. these pundits have no morals and certainly no shame

Yeah, if anything damning would have been found, it would have been leaked already.
Would it have? Since Mueller took over there seems to be fewer leaks.

The search warrant was wide-ranging = fishing expedition because we don't know wtf we're looking for.....
Posted on 8/9/17 at 11:10 am to LSURussian
That's how it's supposed to work, right?
You find a suspect and then find the crime?

Got to get that 3 weeks manafort actually worked for the campaign covered
Posted on 8/9/17 at 11:21 am to fargobison
Trump hired him in the event the convention became a brokered one much like the 1976 convention where Manafort helped Ford fight back a challenge from Reagan....it was strategic thinking

It's definitely possible. At this point this case is like a counter-intelligence case married to a mob case. For example, Manafort tried to do deal on the Drake Hotel with Dmytro Firtash who the DOJ calls high-level Russian organized crime. Trump has worked real estate deals to Felix Sater who has his own Russian mob connections.
USA Today
But I hope they're looking into the aspect of the story of why pro-Russian oligarchs who were suing Manafort for the $9.9 million they say he owed them stopped coming after that money after December 2015 and what if anything the Russians hoped to get out of that from his unpaid(!) work for the Trump campaign (e.g. getting the pro-Ukrainian plank removed from the party platform, etc.).

There is no indication from the financial statements that the loans had been repaid as of the time they were filed in December 2015...
Mr. Deripaska appears to have stopped pursuing his court action against Mr. Manafort and his former investment partners, Rick Gates and Rick Davis, in late 2015.

Manafort bought his house in cash. You think he's gonna have any meaningful records?
Well the raid was the day after his testimony, and him delivering records. This means they got a judge to sign off on the raid, likely b.c they knew he had something he didn't share.
Mueller is moving quickly on this. Hopefully we get a bit of closure by EOY.

Is there anyone who knows more about less than Louise Mensch? Really I challenge every PB poster on here to name one person.
