President Trump’s pick for drug czar, Rep. Tom Marino, has withdrawn from consideration following allegations he helped water down legislation and weaken the Drug Enforcement Administration’s ability to go after big drug distributors.

Trump tweeted Tuesday, “Rep. Tom Marino has informed me that he is withdrawing his name from consideration as drug czar. Tom is a fine man and a great Congressman!”

Democrats and at least one Republican had pressed the president on Monday to pull Marino’s nomination following a weekend Washington Post/”60 Minutes” report on the drug legislation.

The most awesome tremendous people folks.

I know you think you are accomplishing something, but you aren't.

Didn't mean to down vote.

We all know that Democrats love the war on drugs.

Without it, the cartels wouldn't be able to find their campaigns and drug running operations.

Why do we have all these "Czar" positions anyway?

Isn't there a head of the DEA already? Wouldn't he already answer to someone? Why add another layer of the bureaucracy at the taxpayers expense?

Great question. Make the Federal Government smaller, not bigger.

Get rid of Czar this and Czar that tomorrow.

Apart from the War On Drugs conversation, nobody cares a whit about a recommended appointee withdrawing before even being processed, confirmed, or active.

Jeesh...

Yea, no. Not at all.

This guy is the puppet of big pharma, not the cartels. This was about the Opiod crisis, it had nothing to do with what we typically consider to be the war on drugs.

Essentially, Marino knew that shitheads were flooding the country with addicitve opiods and he lead the push for the bill that protected them in this mission. This dude shouldn't be anywhere near this administration.
