the ESPN-NBA deal is going to be so interesting to watch it unfold
salaries skyrocketed because of the new deal
ESPN may not be able to afford that new deal
if ESPN crumbles, does the NBA? can the NBA contract when decreased revenue hits after this deal ends?

My guess is that the cable providers offered them a sweetheart deal vs them going the a la carte option like HBO did.
They chose networks and their bundles over getting subscribers independently and it cost them.

Millennials cant afford cars, houses or cable TV. That's why they are riding bikes, living in small apartments (or at their parents' house) and eschewing cable.

Or does the NBA set up their own streaming service and recapture those numbers. Does Netflix or Hulu try to make a splash by signing to stream the NBA in a big way?

make no mistake. if the NBA could have developed revenue streams via online that rivaled the ESPN contract, they would have done it already. why keep the middle man?

Although the man may have a point....didn't MLB partner up with SlingTV or PS Vue to offer MLB Network via the OTT service? I wonder if it would be financially beneficial for the NBA to do something similar with DirecTV Now....honestly OTT is about to blow up (even more than it already has) with Google (YouTube), Hulu, Verizon, etc entering the market.

Most OTT services that give access to WatchESPN already have a stream limit right? I know DTVNow is a 2 stream limit....hell as far as I know the tier with ESPN is still a single stream on SlingTV.
ETA Or are you saying that they are only going to let me access WatchESPN from my home IP address....that would suck.
