Are they going to continue on this progressivism (is a mental disorder) route or go back and try in being the "Worldwide Leader in Sports"

They are still this.

And until that changes, they have no reason to change.

They were at a cross road years ago. Not they're past the point of no return and are finished except for live events.

They are owned by Disney. That should answer your question.

until they stop getting all of their major sporting event contracts, I doubt they care about their highlight shows

ESPN is no more guilty than the rest of "them". It's time we call them out for what they are and take the appropriate response (like changing the channel) - irrespective of their market cap. They don't get immunity once they reach a certain size. Shame on the viewing public for not grabbing their pitchforks and torches.

Eventually the top dogs at Disney are going to realize the drop in subscribers has as much to do with their progressive nonsense as cord cutters. But they aren't there yet. Once that happens, the top dogs at ESPN will get fired and the new folks coming in will remind everyone that ESPN is a sports channel and if they want to push their politics they are more than welcome to quit and head over to MSNBC. But as I said, they aren't there yet. They should be after the white supremacist comments, but they aren't.

ESPN needs all parties watching their programming not just half the country. Given the insane amount of money they pay for college football and nfl, they don't have much room for error. At some point, with the drop in subscribers and ratings, they are going to start losing money.

they aren't there yet and they might not get there. I think the average hard core sports watcher isn't willing to cut bait on ESPN yet.

I honestly don't see ESPN changing. I do see Hill eventually getting canned because she will think she can say anything and eventually she will cross the line.

Always an unwise approach.

There's something called a tipping point. Are we there yet?

Nah. But, the fun thing about tipping points is that you basically only ever know when it WAS, not when it is going to be.

If it was easy to spot the tipping point coming, there would be no such thing as Netflix because Blockbuster would have been the first mover.

And, Amazon would have been crushed in its infancy by Walmart and today, most of your online purchases would be via Walmart.

Bristol, like The Progressive Left in general, is paralyzed by their hubris . It feels like they are almost intentionally architecting their own demise, just like the Progressive Left.

Remember - at their core business model - they have to endlessly purchase content . Their own content is essentially being rejected on principle now. And the cord - cutting is just beginning . They are not going to be able to continue to pay for content with bid - busting contracts. The door is opening much wider for their competitors. To keep costs down, they have to fire talent. That talent than becomes vocal critics and rivals of ESPN . Particularly when they retain and promote based on Progressive / Racial bona dudes . They have quite a mess on their hands. And their Amen corner is cheering them on and telling them to go even further .

I don't really see anyone close to taking them over right now

I'm curious to see how well their solo streaming app will do when it is released

I'm going to watch the games I want to watch no matter what channel they are on and no matter how offended snowflakes are by their progressive or cro-magnon angle.

Literally the ONLY thing I watch on ESPN is actual games.

There was a time when ESPN was on my TV when I woke up and likely on when I arrived at home. I enjoyed the highlights, analysis, etc etc.

Now, truth be told, I can't say it was politics that changed that. But, things can be subtle. Viewers of any show tend to do so because it is comfortable in some way.

If, for some reason, that feeling changes, a viewer might just feel less and less incentive to make a point to watch. They might not even be self aware of any specific reason.

ESPN, for what are likely a variety of reasons, is bleeding viewers. Many of those reasons are simply a result of the modern world.

However, I would suggest that ANY business that is already having to shift with market realities would probably be wise to not literally push entire market segments away.

There's no getting around it. ESPN has absolutely taken a position.

If you are white and conservative and express certain views, you will be fired.

If you are not white, you can say whatever the frick you want.

The SMART thing to have done was say, "we don't really give a shite what someone says on their own time. We have thousands of employees and they have a variety of opinions".

But, they already burned that bridge.

I don't know if ESPN owns a Demographic map of the U.S., but, if not, it would be wise if they purchased one.
