How many trillions have been spent on defense since 2000? Time to admit that this is either propaganda or that our military spending is and has been the worst investment the world has ever seen.

Wow. Just wow. I think even our leftist brethren would agree that this is a dumb sentiment

I have no idea what you mean by that. He's saying it. The Chinese are saying it. The Japanese are saying. The South Koreans are saying it.

If you think all those folks would agree on "propaganda" - I don't know what else to tell you. Is the intel on all the details 100% solid? No. It wasn't on Iraqi WMD, either, but literally everyone who was looking at it agreed on it.

But the risk here is much higher.

We've developed the most intensely lethal and broad-spectrum fighting force in history. Not only that - but capable of defeating a combined armed forces of the HISTORY of the planet, not including prior U.S. military forces.

The U.S. military has no mandate to be cost efficient, beyond being cost efficient while meeting the President's capability goals. Capability comes first and the efficiency is secondary.

The time to deal with a threat like this is early. The more NK's capability increases, the harder they will be to deal with when the time comes.

holy shite you're a fricking imbecile.

If I give you a trillion dollars and tell you to prepare for ANY threat, you have a tough job.

Good thing we gave them 10 trillion++.

Trillion.

$10,000,000,000,000.00

That's why I don't think NKs sabre rattling is anything but propaganda.

We had the SR-71 Blackbird operational in 1964. Think about that.

I applauded using drones over U.S soldiers and his ISIS strategy worked. We still shouldn't be over there then or now.

Do you think theyre telling you the equivalent of the blackbird today?

Seriously, how stupid are you?

Oh and we didnt give someone anything, we bought a military with that money. A function that is EXPRESSLY outlined in the constitution.

go take your Obama "yes we can" level of knowledge back to the OT and shut the frick up.

I'm saying that it is propaganda coming from the high rollers at the table and used to push us into yet another nation building war.

Exactly. We paid for security and we have it. NK is not a threat and this is just the media propaganda machine cranking out stories

Reading is hard.

We have the most advanced technology in the world. It's asinine to think that North Koreas 70 year old tech is a threat.

If 70 year old tech is a threat then we have wasted an unthinkable amount of money. I don't think we have.

Is is an ACA level failure because liberals have purposely made its focus not warfighting. I could build you a military that was more lethal and more efficient at half the cost of what we pay now but you know that's not what you really want. In your eyes the military is a tool to advance your agenda.

and now we see the failure of your argument come full circle...where you now present the argument to defeat your general premise as some sort of "gotcha"

You still don't get it, do you?

They could whip us with slingshots, if they are willing to hide among innocent people.

Why does this work? Because ppl like you can't fathom killing innocent people and would rather perish.

So what's the big deal? Your policy of "fair" in war and ignoring threats is exactly why we've been cornered now.

Well yes. Obviously, in an engagement, we kick their arse.

But, we'd be hard pressed to stop one of their nukes from landing on Japan or S. Korea in the process.

And, even ones traveling here, while certainly hittable, are no gimme.

I mean, ya know, this ain't tiddly winks.

Sure, by the time theirs landed, they'd be a memory. But, I'm sure where it landed would still be a shade aggravated.

What, exactly, do you expect our caveman friends in NK to do to us in our own home?

Scared of the bogeyman

hmmm.

you pretend to be environmentalist, let's try one option.

They Nuke SK.

all those people die, and we get fallout in ~14 days across the west coast and most of the US.

NEATO!

or do those Sk people not matter?

Kim Jong Un is a "high roller"? He wants to get killed/deposed in a bizarre scheme for profit?

Maybe Japan should do something about it then. And if we can't take down 70 year old tech with tens of trillions of dollars and 70 years of research then we have more than just a spending problem.

Good thing we can stop anything NK wants to do. Conventional mortar fire on SK or a dirty bomb are far bigger threats than their ICBMs.
