Either NK is not a threat or our military is an ACA level failure

How many trillions have been spent on defense since 2000?
Time to admit that this is either propaganda or that our military spending is and has been the worst investment the world has ever seen.

I think people are just worried about the rapid escalation and the end game of it all.

The military is inefficient, but that is because it's run by government. Which obviously is necessary.
Governments are by definition inefficient because they aren't constrained by profit or loss.
Our military can be as wasteful as frick and it wouldn't effect they funding.

Best defense is a good offense.
We could put up 70 on NK, but now they have a decent FG kicker and may be able to sneak 3 pts on the board.
3 pts is a city losing a good chunk of their population by the way.
Because of our military spending no one not suicidal would touch us. NK may be suicidal.
Our military spending is the reason Cuba isn't a satellite state of Russia, and china doesn't have bases in Mexico.
Its the reason we can sanction and not be sanctioned.
Could it be less, sure. But I don't mind it being a priority. It's why we are what we are, why the dollar is what it is, and why you can have all these social programs that we can't afford

What have we been doing the last 16 yrs? Why is NK at this level? Ignoring things does not make them stop or go away. Seriously, how did we allow this? Trump is having to deal with those failures before him.

This. Don't blame the generals, blame the spineless politicians.
We've been fighting wars with one or both hands tied behind out backs since (ironically) the Korean War.
Instead going all-out then (chasing the Chinese into China in the 50s), we have a much bigger problem now.

Collateral damage happens all the time and SK knows this. Sometimes the worst outcome is the only positive outcome.
And SK getting fricked up isn't the only reason; whoever breaks NK owns NK and no one wants to own it.
