Easy fix to the background check issue

Federal real ID tied to citizenship, voting and all gun transfers. The current system of the phone calls and FBI etc. is stupid.

There shouldn’t be background checks

I support that 100%. I assume you are going to send that ID to everyone who is eligible to vote, correct?

To take this one step further, it’s not even a right granted by the constitution. It’s an absolute restriction on the government—what they can’t do. It says nothing of what we can do, which means we can do whatever we want. I know these are two sides of the same coin but the distinction seems to get lost.

And yet nobody screams suppression for any of the incredibly long list of other activities that require an ID. The Constitution explicitly forbids the government from infringing on the right to keep and bear arms, yet you cannot buy a weapon without ID. Suppression? Can we sue?

I would be floored if requiring an ID would have a disproportionate effect on blacks. I have never heard an actual black person complain about this. I have heard white liberals say that this is so, but I have never seen any basis for it.

Your right to bear arms for self defense is the same as for any other fundamental right.
The Supreme Court in Heller specifically said that the right to bear arms was not unlimited.

What do you think? The gov't knows who's eligible. Just send an ID to everyone over 18, and then to everyone else when they turn 18.
