"Duck Dynasty" ratings are plummeting

Down 28% from last season's premiere. Down 33% in target demographic. I figured social conservatives would support Phil and the show would see record numbers.
Why do you think this is happening?
Fewer fans are flocking to “Duck Dynasty.”
The show’s Season 5 premiere reportedly missed its target Wednesday night in the wake of star Phil Robertson’s controversial comments about homosexuality, the Jim Crow-era South and his belief bayou bachelors should marry 15 year old girls.
The A&E phenom drew 8.5 million viewers for its 10 p.m. return, a steep drop from the 12 million viewers who tuned in for the Season 4 premiere, according to TVLine.com.
Even worse, only 4.2 million viewers in the highly sought-after demographic of 18 to 49 years old bothered to watch, a decline of 33 percent, TVLine reported.
The premiere was the first chance for viewers to watch Robertson, 67, in his natural habitat since his incendiary GQ interview that led to public backlash, his temporary suspension and a rallying cry from conservatives who pledged their support.
The bearded patriarch of the duck-calling clan drew fire after going on an all-terrain-vehicle tour with a GQ writer and spewing anti-gay and racially insensitive comments.

Over saturation. They knew it wouldn't last forever which is why they made a decision to make as much money as possible, as quick as possible.
If you would have been in North La this Christmas, you would understand completely what I mean.

Honest question: Do you have ANY interests other than your sexuality?

You know, your time could be better spent than coming here. There are cures for your condition. It's called Vagina. Don't be one. Be in one!

Any time a public individual or entity takes a controversial stand...there will be negative feedback. I've took a big hit in my own market (art), because I speak out. And I don't look like a religious zealot hillbilly! Which I might be.
It's gonna work out fine, Toddy. Love ahead of sex, buddy.

They really need to work in a Transgendered character. Maybe they have a flamboyant cousin who lives in The Big City who can come in and introduce the correct amount of Liberal Moralizing to get those ratings up.

I support Phil and I didn't watch the premier.
Honestly, like any show, it'll just lose it's muster over time.

Just curious. Do you remember when you told us Rush Limbaugh was finished, and his advertisers were leaving him, his ratings were "plummeting", and stations were dropping him?

How would you separate anger over PR's statements from anger at A&E for allowing the professionally offended to label those dimwitted but harmless comments as hate? I don't think Phil's supporters are happy at all with A&E but they're not the easiest group to poll.

From a personal stand point of the "reality" shows on any given night I generally avoid all of them. The spectrum and depth of bull shite offered is simply too much to endure. The fat family making millions off the obesity and celebrating the obese daughters unhealthy as hell life style in Honey Boo Boo is farther out there than a duck hunter will ever be to me. I am still overwhelmed by the plethora of "Cajun" this or that programs to choose from. Add to that the litany of shows that celebrate you chosen lifestyle as a cause celebre too Toddy. The numbers of those show a far more widespread population is homosexual when the truth is only a small percentage in fact.

Don't confuse us with data/facts.
