If my parents take me to the UK on vacation should I be allowed to stay there and become a citizen because I feel like it?

No ... but, if you and your parents sneak in without a passport or anything ... then, you are entitled to citizenship, the right to vote, a cell phone, free healthcare, shiny rims, popcorn shrimp, and strawberry lemonade.

Come on though, you gotta have a little sympathy here. We're talking about people who were brought here as kids , and grew up here, for all intents and purposes this is their home, just to coldly say "go back where you came from" is just being an a-hole for the sake of being an a-hole. Now that's not to say that the way Obama did it is right, it wasn't. He never had the authority to allow them to stay; but that's an entirely separate issue from is the answer just telling them "get out?" because I'm not sure it is.

Though I wouldn't be above using them as political leverage if I were Trump.

Trump should go to Houston tomorrow and make his announcement that he's ending DACA

So they should be rewarded because they were good at playing hide and seek or because our border security and enforcement was lacking?

Or how about if they are contributing to our country in a positive manner and paying into a system that allows them to stay here legally instead of continuing to skirt by illegally, we give them a break.

I know for a fact some of these people only know America as their home, they are fully assimilated and working productive jobs and you might not even know they were here until Trump ends DACA and they are forced to go somewhere they've never been or know the language.

End the program, but do so in a manner that doesn't punish people who are American in every way except for on paper.

I feel like I'm missing some context.

We can have sympathy and enforce the law. One is a feeling and another is an action.

The problem with "DREAMERS" is that tolerating their (or their parents') breaking of our laws encourages others to do it. Sure, we might want to have a heart and let them stay but just like the policy of amnesty, there are future consequences that we don't want to have to deal with. It's an incentive for further law-breaking.

These kids are in a bad spot, but the blame shouldn't be placed on the U.S. government for enforcing our laws; the blame should be placed on their parents for putting them in this situation to begin with. Sometimes life hands you lemons. It sucks, but we have a process for people to come here the right way.

Laws and government should never be about sympathy. Or compassion. It should be blind; black and white.

This is the trick progs use to get their way. They use feelings and emotions.

It's highly effective. You have to frame the argument with facts and let them respond with "it's not fair" which is entirely subjective.

Would the Mexican government let me get away with this if I snuck into their country?

This is in fact incorrect

Being a conservative doesn't have to mean being a dick.

Let me ask you a question. Do you remember that Marine a few years ago who accidentally ended up in Mexico and was arrested? How did you feel about that? My bet is you believe he should not have been put in jail, but see under your very own words here he should have rotted in that prison, I mean he broke Mexican law right, black and white right? Oh , that's different somehow? Well the same thing here, these kids didn't knowingly break the law. Were they supposed to tell their parents " no I don't want to break the US law, you go without me?"

Let the dumb assery stay on the left. It's perfectly reasonable to say okay they broke the law, but let's have some sympathy here. How many fricking people are we talking about anyway? 2M tops were kids when they were brought here by their parents and are now productive members of this country?

This isn't even difficult if you aren't a partisan tard. Conservatives agree to let those people stay if the liberals agree to get fully behind evicting the scum who no one wants here and the liberals agree to fully commit to getting rid of scum if the conservatives agree to leave these kids alone. Everyone wins except for two groups. Group 1 being the shite bags who end up being deported and Group 2 being the shite bags who don't want the left and right to work together on anything.

Xenophobia isn't part of the equation for me. You can stamp your feet and whine about it all you want.

I don't care what country an illegal is from. Hell most aren't from Mexico. They should all go home and come here the right way.
