There is no shortage of "dumb" up in DC. What is killing us is the absence of HONESTY.

No way this would have came out under a Hillary Administration; it would been buried and passed off to business as usual.

Rotten to the core. We were a hair's width away from becoming a Banana Republic if Clinton had won; and if this stuff had came out then...probably open revolt in some quarters.

It is high time for a Trump Super-Tweet calling the Intel Agencies out as TRAITORS engaging in a coverup to protect Obama and his Deep State Operatives. Or even better...announce a MAJOR SPEECH, laying out the evidence. That would really shake things up. May as well go all in...they have.

ETA: Give the Federal government an endless stream of money (e.g. direct taxation of the citizenry) and this is what you will eventually get.

The Founding Fathers knew better.

I am thinking alliteration really works in campaign ads.

Here's the first one for the Castro 2020 campaign:

Castro means competence!

Got railed on an audit? Just ignore the findings. Brilliant strategy.

Prayers to the auditors for that nightmare. Hell of a qualification statement.

That may pass qualified opinion straight into a disclaimer. And for that to happen, in any audit firm or agency, requires a LOT of approvals at the highest levels.

I came to post this exact same thing. I'm in the field. People would make a career out of going around the country and telling folks about this audit if it happened to a Fortune 500 company.

Under SarBox the CEO and CFO would go to jail also. This is EnRon level scandal from an acccounting standpoint.

A lot of this too.

There was a DoD audit a few years ago & they couldn't account for $3T (I think that was the number).....let that sink in.

Obamacare rollout they straight up lost $300 billion. That's what they said. They LOST it. Like you lose a pen on your desk, they lost $300 billion.

The corruptness and incompetence of the Obama regime is astounding.

It really is akin to the Edwin Edwards Governorship, but expanded on a federal level. The tentacles of corruption are so interweaving it's unbelievable. Even the libs should be upset about this but they dare not question a black man. They are indeed, Cucks.

I have been saying for many many years, before you go cutting programs, go after fraud in the current programs.

Obama had started going after Medicare/Medicaid fraud, and then seemed to chill out.

IMHO, frauding the government should be a near treason crime.

How do you get waste amounting to >1000% of the department's total budget?

There was a push just in the last couple of years to put some serious punishment on not only frauding the fed gov but knowingly certifying false information that was tied to funding. They even streamlined a lot of the regs too. Both good ideas. I'm not sure if they've been put into practice effectively.

It's not so much about fraud in these cases as it is mismanagement. Some of these missing funds most likely were used for their intended purpose but the accounting and paper trail is utter shite. Sometimes its that way because of incompetence and other times its to mask fraud.

The issue with the OP's title is that you can't say this is necessarily waste or that fixing the issues from the report would save or find an extra half billion.

This is correct. Just because there is an error doesn't mean its material.
