"Democrats and the media are frothing to find something criminal in it all, with the most unhinged talking treason. What it clearly was, was criminally stupid."

He's not wrong.

It parallels a lot of the wikileaks stuff. Shady happenings, but not illegal. Poor data security. Email chains. Etc.

I'm not suggesting it was illegal.

It was utterly stupid. He got suckered into a meeting that ended up being about nothing he wanted to hear about, gaining absolutely nothing, while creating possibly the biggest shitshow yet for his dad.

I know. I'm just saying that was a similarity.

Yeah. I heard an ex CIA operative on the radio today, and he said that they send people like Veselnitskaya in initial meetings because she is connected enough to share information, but also far enough enough to cloud direct connections and create plausible deniability and claim ignorance. Judging by the comments on here it worked.

Trump Jr did the opposite of that, but most of the discussion seemed to place the blame on Manafort since he should have known better.

Well, Manafort did get fired, didn't he?

Maybe Manafort didn't stop it because he was crooked enough to do it.

Good point. He stands out as an especially shady and corrupt person in a shady and corrupt profession.

Chalk it up to a political novice acting like a political novice and move on from that.

I do give Trump's kids credit though for forcing their dad to go with Pence for VP instead of that corrupt tub of shite Christie. That brought a lot of mainstream republicans home and saved the election.

You do realize Obama's chief of staff had his password as fricking "password" right?

Please tell you realize this.

Can none of you take a joke? Instead of reading the article and laughing at Jr.'s stupidity, you immediately go into defense mode about Hillary/Obama/Dems.

The insecurity is ridiculous.

So the fact that Obama's chief of state may have been a fricking moron is supposed to make us feel better if Junior, Manafort, and Kushner are fricking morons also?

Please tell us you realize how idiotic that is.

Manafort is as crooked as they come. He had absolutely no problem taking the meeting, although he also probably quickly saw no value in it.
