So by giving a contract to a religious group that believes X, thats means the government is promoting that religion over others???

you just tried to move the goalpost there

unless you want to call being anti-religion a religion, then your attempt at a point earlier has no merit

my response had no bearing to the quoted text above in this post

don't think so, I'm pretty the government can give religious groups contracts assuming they also give contracts to non religious groups or other religious groups as well.

yup

and they can ban awarding contracts to give groups that the government decides are discriminatory and not violate any rules

nobody forces companies to use government contracts

now, the religious fanatics will cry "BUT IT'S SOME HUGE % OF THE GDP" and while they are right, they fail to see the issue: the federal government should NOT have that much financial sway. kill the head and the body will die. remove the spending ability of the feds and they cannot discriminate using public funds, and privately these groups can do as they wish without fear of financial, public, or regulatory reprisal

I'm really pissed off that the government is using my money in this manner.

No. Don't be ridiculous.

Any other questions?

Oh Jesus, get over it. You are mandated to pay taxes. We all are. At least some of that tax money goes to fund something that is in direct conflict with your moral or religious beliefs. It is that way for all of us. You are still free to practice your religion the way you want, but don't expect the govt to operate so that it doesn't piss off one or more religious groups.

Each of us could list probably dozens of ways that government spends money that we feel are morally objectionable, but you have to get with the program. There is no "opting out" when it comes to government spending.
