As far as leaks coming out of the White House, do you consider that to be a good or bad thing? The goal of Wikileaks is (or was I guess it could be argued) to open up governments. No more secrets, deep state, etc. Transparency in government, and as a result hopefully accountability.

To those who oppose the leaks that have plagued the White House over the months, do you support Julian Assange/Wikileaks?

Leaks are almost always a good thing IMHO.

The times when I am against leaks are...
* when sources/methods released
* It disrupts sensitive negotiations

Americans should know what their gov't is up to.

Bad if activities are legal. It ruins relationships with partners and prevents the government from doing what it needs to do.

If the government is doing illegal stuff, I'm cool with leaks to keep them accountable.

They can be both.

Leaking classified info is bad.

Leaking day to day operational stuff is fine.

Generally speaking, when there are leaks as bad as we're seeing now, it points to a lack of control within the administration, and a general lack of respect for the leadership. Perhaps Kelly will change that paradigm.

If it's uncovering something illegal, VERY GOOD!

If it's exposing a shady but still legal negotiation, still good.

If it's putting the lives of our people and/or allies at risk, bad.

Does anyone really think that phone calls between world leaders should be leaked to the public? There is no way any reasonable person can think this is acceptable.

I think big time corruption should be exposed on either side, however the point at which it is going on now is counter productive and exposes nothing more often than not. The phone call with the Australian president said nothing bad on either end, but now the president of Australia probably doesn't wanna have a phone conversation with POTUS anymore, which makes it a bad thing with no good coming out of it. The other day a story was run about Trump calling the WH a dump, I don't doubt he did, but there's nothing unethical or wrong about that, it just made him seem snobby, which we already knew he was. The problem was it was a story in which an anonymous source was supposedly a first hand witness. Then that source came out and said "well a few people there told me about it". So we'really now using anonymous sources who are quoting an anonymous source on something petty as shite?!?!

Yeah, I get why it is a problem for the US, and makes trump look like shite.

But I generally think us knowing what is going on is good for the american people. Assuming they aren't discussing sources/methods or engaged negotiations.

I think it is great. Just like I think media scrutiny is great.

My problem is the fact that it only happens when an R holds office....

Bad thing unless it's to expose criminal activity like Hillary's e-mails.

I think we and the media have become as entitled as shite to think we ought to know every detail of everything that we elect people we trust to do. Turning the day to day operations and coverage of the WH into an enormous expose for the sake of satisfying people's hate and entertaining people without real lives is stupid and a testament as to how petty we've become as a people.

I like leaks and I support them and enjoy reading them.

I also support any firings or arrests that occur to the leakers.

Just because I like to read them doesn't mean they are right or justified.

Exceptions would be things covered under whistleblower statutes, which very little of the leaks we are seeing meet that standard.

Leaks are never a good thing. There are proper methods to get necessary information out there. Leaking that information isn't one of them.

I really think we should know far more than we do on what is going on.

just going to point out that the leakers are the ones that are doing this.

I agree with most of this. I want leaks. Leaks are good for our democracy IMHO.

But if you break a law in the leaking and it isn't a whistleblower thing, you should go to jail.

I do think we need much more robust whistleblower laws though.

When its about BS gotcha moments that are not serious to the running of government like the Mexican transcript leak then no. That's playing petty politics.

But when leaks are about serious abuse of power and actual criminal acts then yes they are a good thing.

This is so far outside the realm of reality that it must be sarcasm. It's probably the lamest conspiracy theory ever concocted on the internet.

I am for leaking as long as what is being leaked unveils crimes being committed, liberties/freedoms being violated or corruption. The problem with these Trump leaks is that its none of those things.
