I think biker gangs count. They had a big shoot out in Waco a few years back between the Cossacks and the the Bandidos.

We didn't have street gangs back in the day in Monroe. We referred to them as "hoods". We had about five or six hoods in high school but they never created any problems. Of course back then the assistant principal would wear your arse out with a paddle for misbehaving but that's a tradition now long gone.
