Is that what they've been led to believe somehow? I'm getting a weird feeling after reading a bunch of stuff.

Most people for most of history have been "xenophobic". The last 50 years is progressives trying to convince us we know better than them.

I am for severely limiting it right now, across the board. No need to let anyone else in until we kick a bunch of illegals out and get our house in order.

We are not the world's people dump.

And?
I don't want to compete with smart hard working foreigners. Why should I want that?

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I refuse to believe that most actually believe it. It's just one of those things they say when they don't have a solid argument, like "you're a racist" or "you don't care about poor people."

I am in favor of immigration. A Swiss-style immigration program admitting skilled, white-collar immigrants in fields where their skills are badly needed.

I am against the immigration of the unskilled poor.

We need an immediate moratorium on all imigratation until policy is reformed.

1. Deport all illegal aliens

2. Enact a program of tightly restricted immigration

That statue was erected prior to blacks having civil rights. Needs to be taken down.

I didn't realize a poem on a statute was our immigration law.

Because it's not.

You've set up a false dichotomy here. We can build airplanes and produce our own doctors, just like we did prior to 1965 immigration reforms.
And you failed to answer the question as to why average Americans should want to compete any harder than they already have to, and with low-wage foreigners to boot?
U.S. immigration policy should benefit American citizens, period.

The third world clearly needs their smart people to stay. We don't want third world people. It makes us seem needy and desperate.

I'm against any immigration until there is a labor shortage in the US. When we get the labor participation rate back up above 70% we can discuss immigration.

Immigration is a drain on the economy and resources when there is not enough jobs to go around

Our immigration policy should look a lot like basically any other Nation that is a sought-after destination. Go look up New Zealand policy. It can be summed up pretty simply. They're happy to have you if you're a net gain for New Zealand. Otherwise stay where you are. This same general policy exist almost everywhere you would really want to go except for the United States. Only the United States we'll let you come here to be on welfare. But it's worse than just welfare. New Zealand doesn't just not want you if your on welfare. They don't want you if you're the slightest f****** threat to be on welfare. And in fact even if you show up meeting their guidelines if you failed to live up to your end of the bargain within a certain time frame thank kick your arse back out. That's not racist that's not a xenophobic. That's called common sense when you have a product is in demand

I am pro-immigration, but I am for strict standards. If you can't prove you will be a benefit to this country, you can't come.

Exactly. Immigration should not be charity, if you can come in and contribute I'm all for immigration. Those who will just suck up resources should stay where they are.
