Different angle, showing where he's aiming. Do we know precisely who or what he's scoped in on? No, but he's clearly aiming in the direction of law enforcement. And he wasn't the only one. There are other pictures of other armed men at the standoff.

If an officer feared for his life because he was threatening them then the officer would be justified in killing him. Period.

I'll take you at your word. However, many others would not have agreed with you, based on the comments at the time. "The Second American Revolution almost started today!" was one caption attached to pictures like this. I contrast this with the frenzied reaction to the report last week of "Black Panthers buying explosives," which turned out to be false.

quote:

Does not get any simpler than that. My belief system does not change because of what team I am on. Does yours?

Of course not. Just don't pretend that your side has a monopoly on consistency in this regard. Because it ain't so.

Don't lump libertarians with republicans...outside of Paul the commonality is very slim. You should read where Cato and the like to observe the gulf of differences.

Jim, it is the same guy. One. Guy. And I would guess that he is scanning, not sighting. And it is still wrong. Even scanning with a rifle in the direction of law enforcement is threatening. He should have been arrested. He is not the second coming of the American Revolution.

So it is someone else's fault that the people in Ferguson were rioting. Oppression. Right.

Many other pictures out there of other armed men at the standoff. I have no reason to disbelieve you think he should have been arrested. My point is many would not agree with you. And I wonder what people on this board, and elsewhere would think of a similar picture in Ferguson.

No shots were fired by the "protesters" out there in the desert. Only govt. officials murdering cattle. Numerous shots have been reported being fired in Ferguson, and not by the cops.

That's what I think.

This. The protesters in the Cliven Bundy standoff held a firm line, but showed remarkable restraint as did the military and law-enforcement officials. Thanks to this restraint on the parts of all parties involved, violence was avoided and the situation was peacefully resolved. There has been no such restrain in Ferguson, especially coming from the protesters.

Paul's gone pro-war and pro sanctions and pro war on drugs. He's full republican now.

And the minute a shot was fired or PD car burned, there's no doubt in my mind the BLM PD would have shown NO restraint and a blood bath would have followed.

2 sides to this situation.
1) oppression of blacks.
2) rioting due to oppression with a tipping point with this controversial decision

Neither are good. Neither are right. Both sides are wrong. Pointing fingers solves nothing.

The biggest riot of white people I've ever seen was WWII. But I'm not sure how many Republicans and Libertarians were involved.
