You don't seem to understand the difference between a tax break and a subsidy. Let me give you an analogy:

Subsidy: My son wants to buy a new truck. I give him $1,000 to apply toward the purchase. Tax Break:

A thief breaks through my window once a month and steals $200. He leaves a note saying that if I just leave the door unlocked he'll only steal $100.

No, the truck dealer would have to give your son $1,000.00 to buy a truck and if it was like our film tax credit program; the truck dealer would lose 730.00 dollars on the transaction.

As for the thief breaking the door and stealing your 200 bucks, and offering you a "deal"; wouldn't it be better just to shoot his sorry arse and not to deal at all?

Zach worships Bobby Jindal. ANY criticism of the messiah Governor, legit or not, is met with Zach either making some excuse or bringing up Walter Boasso.

Well you did if you are a Louisiana taxpayer. Aren't you glad the government decided to that with your money?

Wrong. He's far too left wing for my taste.

Zach understands that elections are between 2 choices. I guess this has never occurred to you. When pressed the Jindal haters on this board admit they would prefer Boasso. That tips their hand. They're partisan hacks.

Asgard,no, I am neither of the two. I am actually retired & have supported myself and my family all these yrs & am a good enough financial situation where I won't need anyone's help, govt or otherwise. My complaint is that this "complaint has been voiced" wayyy too many times to keep track of & he makes the same arguments over & over again. The word that was used earlier does come to mind: "fixated".

If what you said was true, wouldn't there at least be some alt media coverage about the situation?

IBF is absolutely correct.

Are you saying that since the media doesn't report on it then it must not be true?

If so,

I am trying to understand this issue better. I admit that I know too little to have a "side". I appreciate the information brought to the topic

What the state is doing is cutting services at the same time they are enabling many in the film industry to prosper by giving away tax dollars depending on how much the film industry spend in the state.

The state auditor looked at this a few years back and reported the state gave up 197 million in taxes and realized 27 million in return. Subsequent years show bigger tax losses.

There is no doubt an entire industry is benefitting, but the state loses as does education and health services and roads and bridges because the state gives up tax money instead of funding regular state functions which get cut.

Less than is working right now at the closest Wal Mart to you and probably less Louisiana resident payroll too.

BTW WalMart does it without taking 30-35% of their expenses from taxpayers.

How many people working does it take to generate 250 million dollars of La. State income tax?
