But meanwhile they were getting ripped apart on social media for the entire weekend.

If YETI is telling the truth here, then whoever is in charge of their PR/marketing should be fired for allowing all this backlash to fester for 3 days and not issuing a statement to set the record straight ASAP once the NRA statement came out on Friday.

The fact that they waited so long to publicly respond makes it seem like the NRA statement is more accurate and YETI was caught off guard by the level of backlash they got and is in damage control mode.

It seemed no different than what the left has been doing to companies that partnered with the NRA or sponsored Laura Ingraham.

yeah. i had a hard time from the get-go believing Yeti would make that stupid of a move, but they took a hellalong time to make a statement about it.

NRA also better make sure they have something to back this up as well.

i love me some 2A but the NRA has a long track record of being full of shite.

So someone issues this tweet:

The NRA Foundation is a charitable organization, and Yeti products have long been a staple at Friends of NRA Foundation Banquets.

Yeti Coolers is now cutting ties with the NRA Foundation without explanation or notice. #BoycottYetiCoolers

Then a person embeds that tweet in the following:
Shannon Watts

Please be sure to thank @YETICoolers. And go here to make a purchase: https://www.yeti.com

Any company opposed to the @NRA leadership’s deadly agenda deserves our business.

And Camera Hogg retweeted it. twitter link

While I agree that a private equity firm would be more likely to restructure existing discount programs without considering the timing in relation to one of those programs, I'm not sure what being New York based has to do with it.

When you are relaying terms like “outdated discount programs” and “alternative customization program” as well as using terms like “legacy”, you will struggle to get across your point that the NRA mischaracterized your actions.

The NRA may have stuck it to Yeti, who knows, but that press release won’t help Yeti recover significantly.

Definitely damage control.

A company that relies on outdoor enthusiasts as their customer base issues that statement before, not after they cut ties with the NRA in any aspect within this political environment.

No, looks like Yeti felt the pain of their decision and trying to redefine what they did. It took too long for them to respond. LOL at Yeti

The only way they can clean up this mess is to disclose what other large organizations were involved in the policy adjustment.

Ducks Unlimited is a huge one that comes to mind.
