I'm very conflicted.

I don't want us getting involved, but I do like the decisiveness. It's a nice change of pace. If Assad did use chemical weapons, this was the right move, but I'm just not buying the narrative that he did.

I feel like American Idealism as applied in the Middle East is the Utopianism that will never die.

I feel great. Gorsuch just got confirmed.

And we just bitchslapped a ruthless little man who deserved it, while sending a msg to another fat little man around the globe.

You're not sure Assad used them or that someone else did?

Couldn't have said it better.

And I feel gassy.

Exactly. Logically, it doesn't seem to make sense for Assad to use them right now. It's late in the 4th quarter. He's up by 2 scores and is in field goal range. He just needs to try to run our the clock, avoid turning the ball over, and at worst kick a field goal and make it a 3 score game. Literally the only way he loses, at this point, is to turn the U.S. against him by throwing a pick 6. He doesn't even need to air it out at this point.

Committing a gas attack is pretty much the only way he can come out of this conflict not in power. He has little to no advantage that can be gained from it.

The people who would stand to gain from U.S. intervention are the Rebels. This leads me to believe that this is a false flag. The rebels (as they have done in the past) used Sarin gas and blamed it on Assad to get the U.S. to intervene. WMD's are used by desperate regimes with their backs against the wall. Assad is winning. Who's back is against the wall here? Who stands to benefit? This just doesn't smell right to me.
