The most senior senator, Leahy retains a vision for the chamber as one that promotes bipartisanship and compromise. Leahy has long expressed concern about the politicization of judicial nominees, and he does not support Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s decision to filibuster the Gorsuch nomination, which would effectively block a full Senate vote. “I am not inclined to filibuster, even though I’m not inclined to vote for him,” Leahy said…

Let's see if he feels this way when Trump nominates Ginsberg's replacement.

That's because Gorsuch is the best possible candidate that Trump could nominate. He's not a shoo in for either side. He's, from my understanding, not a yes man. He's not going to do the bidding of Trump, for sake of party.

I've heard the same thing. I really liked the guy watching his confirmation hearings.

I Would drink a beer with the dude.

That and the fact forcing the nuclear option now means putting in whoever the frick Trump wants if RGB or Kennedy steps down.

Backing Gorsuch does not change SCOTUS at all. And it gives the dems firepower to filibuster a non-moderate in the event the above happens.

tl;dr: Schumer is a fricking political idiot.

Yep. I'm a fan of him as well, and I hope he's confirmed. He will be. The Republicans will use the nuclear option.

Even though I hate Trump, I like this nomination.

I don't disagree. As a Libertarian, I hate most of the hacks in our Congress and Senate though.

I'm ok with Gorsuch.

Damn! I want the Reid rule expanded. It will make the Earth shattering shift of a Conservative replacing on of the two geriatric libtard judges and even Kennedy easier!

Yesterday it looked like Schumer was driving the van off the cliff. However, my guess now is that Schumer is playing to the base and Leahy will run cover for the votes needed to confirm. Leahy is safely positioned to take some heat and Schumer keeps the crazy happy.

I'll agree that you're probably correct here.

I hope the Democrats do the right thing here and don't give into the poison that afflicts the people, on both sides, who send the clowns in Congress to Washington.

Judge Gorsuch is a good judge and a good man. He'll be a great justice for 30 years.

i agree.... dems need to let this one go.... even though i'd much prefer merrick garland, gorsuch ain't no slouch.... he's a little too conservative for my taste, but he's smart as shite, fair, and consistent.... can't ask for much more than that

They're being salty bitches because they got played by McConnell and, against all odds, it worked out.

Need to man up and take the L. Gorsuch is a good guy.

Well it's the only thing he's done right, so I won't begrudge him another court pick.

Say, what happened there? You know, before? wink wink.

Must concern you.

I still feel like it should be garland and Obamas nomination. Gorsuch isn't the end of the world though and realistically democrats should give in.
