Democrats missed a huge golden opportunity with Sessions

If they really wanted to stop Sessions from becoming AG and open up a wedge in the GOP to get at least 3 republicans to vote against him, they would've attacked Sessions for his pro war on drugs beliefs and desire to ramp up attacks on legal weed states, his support for civil asset forfeiture and private prisons.
That is stuff that has bipartisan opposition to it and it would've been next to impossible for Sessions to defend himself in this day and age of more tolerance towards weed and winding down the WoD. I could've seen Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and and some liberal republicans voting against him for that.
Instead, democrats fricked it all up and went all in on identity politics calling him a racist and a member of the KKK, a bigot and a sexist to boot. This just allowed the senate republicans to unite around sessions and see the democrats opposition as partisan white noise that didn't mean anything to them.
Democrats really fricked the Sessions nomination up.

Sessions is going to suck Bigly...
Immigration is the only issue we get with Sessions.

As long as Sessions kills it on the borders and illegals and mooselimbs we'll have to tolerate his Baptist war on pot
He better come through on the good stuff at least - my dealer has good stuff anyhow so whatevs

"liberal Republicans?" in the US Senate? You are kidding, right?

That carbon in your lungs is bad for you

I agree.
Hopefully Sessions has a short tenure and is the only notable appointment that Trump makes out of loyalty to early supporters.
Goddamn just when we need the democrats to be smart about attacking bipartisan concerns to stop a shitty pick, they chose to play to their base and put out white noise in attacking him.

Democrats should have worked him, reassurances on certain issues in exchange for votes. Instead, they called the man a racist and acted like pathetic losers

Susan Collins of Maine.
Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
Rob Portman of Ohio and Dean Heller of Nevada although I see them as a more moderate type.

Baptist? I must have missed that meeting.

Those three are not liberals. They are each conservative Republicans.

Question. Exactly what do weed proponents envision legalization to look like? I'm genuinely curious to know.

Maybe not to you but they're easily the most liberal republicans in the senate and their ACU scores reflect that.
Just like Manchin and Heitkamp are easily the most conservative democrats in the senate.

Eh, the DEMs didn't do a whole lot to combat those things either.

Because Susan Collins is the least conservative Repub in the US Senate does not make her a liberal. The US Senate does not have any Republican Senators who are liberals. None. If you want to call Collins Center-Right, you can. But she is no liberal.

What's already happening in Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Alaska.
Those states are doing just fine with legal weed and are making money off of it, there is no chaos and anarchy and nobody is dying from it.

This is what happens when you elect a president with no true North politically.

Tester is another one but he's no Manchin

You're just arguing semantics at this point.
There's such a thing as a conservative democrat and a liberal republican. They're rare but they do exist.
Get the frick over it.

I don't believe Trump has ever waivered or lied about what he planned to do on the law enforcement side? We were just hoping he might change his mind on the issue.
