Democrats are losing moderates and the working class whites that they've relied on for decades

I think it is a well documented fact that they made a conscience calculation that they were no longer going to try and court the white working class. They see them all as racists. Culturally they have nothing in common with today's democratic party.

when you define people entirely by their demographic categories, you end up shrinking your coalition.

I've been saying this for some time. The Democrats are trying to create a majority by carving out constituent groups. Constituent groups they are catering to are blacks, women, LBGT, Unions, Hispanics, environmentalists, etc...

They spent the last election catering to some pretty radical fringe groups - I guess because they thought they just needed to get a few more votes to put them over the top and give themselves an unbeatable coalition of constituent groups.

The problem is that the different groups that they carved out have conflicts. The biggest one I see is that the blue collar middle class (now called "uneducated whites") have a problem with giving 12 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship that allows them to come out of the shadows and compete with them for blue collar jobs.

Show me the White House meeting with Antifa?

Also the LGBT thing is one of the reasons younger voters don't vote GOP and won't until they drop LGBT opposition. I mean let's be real Trump probably rolls his eyes and makes jerk off motions whenever Pence or Sessions talk about "the gays"

Your friend sounds like a rational and honest man.

I may not agree with his politics, but he's most likely a person you can have a serious and rational discussion with about politics and policy without him resorting to baseless accusations of racism, xenophobia and sexism.

Unlike 99% of the Dems on here.

That's so weird. I was also at a neighborhood party this weekend and one of my neighbors said he is going to stop voting for Republicans because Trump turned out to be the same as the rest of them

In what way is Antifa a face of the Democratic Party, it's like saying Richard Spencer is the intellectual heart of the GOP.
