Agree. His point is not that they are supposed to be randomly selected. His point is that elected officials are supposed to be representative of the people. However he is wrong on that. Elected officials are supposed to represent, not necessarily be representative of, the people

Here's the breakdown: He's saying that if you were to randomly select 6 people from the USA, the odds are very very small that it would be 6 white men. He's saying that 6 white men is not representative government. Cmon, guy.

You're still missing his point. A representative sample of a pool is typically randomly selected. Hence, his usage of the words
