you think government is the solution when it is shown over and over again to be the problem
government is a problem in this country but only because of the corporatocracy, a cancer that will only expand in the post-citizens united years. So in a sense I am a conservative in that I do believe that government should be broken down until the bogus capitalist corruption can be eliminated or at least neutralized.

So, this prevents some citizens from obtaining an education?

The more medicare/big government stuff we get, the more IMMODERATE/UNMERITED rich people we get. DC siphons from the masses and pools it into the pockets of elites.

another function of expanded government. proving my point
kill the head and the body will die. reduce government and crony capitalism cannot exist

that's an oxymoronic statement
you can only eliminate the power of corporations by removing their vessel (government)
as long as government is powerful, it will serve their interests. there is no way around this. the only solution is smaller government

it's an expressed desire by some citizens to worsen the educational opportunities for students who weren't born in the right part of East Baton Rouge Parish.
AKA, picking winners and losers.

That doesn't support your statement.

not every country has this issue so i explicitly reject the idea that it's an inevitable function of government.

i don't think it would affect the money or teachers for those "not born in the right part" of EBR

Regardless of the veracity or context of this quote, what is the relevance of it regarding the subject at hand?
I honestly need an explanation as to how this quote is relevant to my post, which was that regardless of the source, be it federal or state, Medicaid is healthcare provided for free via tax paying citizens.
I am perplexed.

Sounds like a you problem. Everything I posted is completely clear. You can disagree with all of it and that's fine, but to say it's confusing just doesn't hold water.

So......
School are derivative of their communities and reflect the good or bad of their communities. An area with a poor tax base and a multitude of virulent social problems will inherently have poor schools. The social problems in said community will also cause quality teachers choosing not to teach at these schools resulting in these schools having the bottom of the barrel teachers.
Bad schools are the fault of the people that live in the communities in which the bad schools exist and the cycles they create.
No amount of money will rectify that.

You do know the Daily Show is a joke, right?
Oh, I just read thru the thread, and sadly you dont. Perhaps you missed this little item on the front page of the thedailyshow.com?
That is some hard hitting political journalism right there

The premise of his argument was that Medicaid won't cost a dollar for the taxpayers of those states.
DS, can you explain to me how the federal government footing the bill for Medicaid will cost taxpayers of those states "zero dollars"?

I think he took that satire literally. Everyone knows the fed's generosity has a time limit. In this case, it's til 2020
