State of California should require anyone within 20 miles of these locations who are receiving state aid and is unemployed to work these farms to remain eligible for benefits.

That's what this is really all about isn't it? Democrats scared that they will have to pay more unless the US keeps its modern slave system for farming intact.

could give two shits about California.

Looks like there are some jobs for the forgotten white working class.

Damned interesting graph.
It's also interesting that most of the items that have the steepest increase have the highest levels of federal funding/involvement:
College Tuition/Books - federal student loan program/Pell Grants
Childcare - Childcare tax credit
Medical costs - Medicare/Medicaid (now ACA)
Food and beverages - Ethanol subsidies increasing price of corn
Housing - home mortgage interest deduction/Section 8
Looking at the ones with almost no increase, or actual decrease - no direct federal involvement/funding.

Well either they are planting too much acreage or need to get out there and get to picking.

Hope you Trumpkins are happy about increased food prices coming!
Congrats on advocating for an exploited underclass.

Is that more or less crop damage than "saving" the delta smelt?

Hiring American workers or legal immigrates would solve this problem. If we have to pay more for food, so be it.

All of Toddy's desperate threads remind me of this.....

Supply and demand.
Food prices go up, citizen employment goes up, more dollars get into the economy...
The only people that would hate this is the people that kept the market artificially low- mainly migrant non citizen workers.
Why do you hate capitalism?

well I'm no watermelon expert and I'm not a farmer but I do know that if I go to any grocery store in the country right now I can get watermelons cheap. So whatever you think your post proved it didn't
Obviously all those huge numbers went way over your head...
Let me simplify it for you: In many cases, government subsidies actually create an environment where farmers DO NOT want to attempt to harvest the crops they plant. This is especially true when it comes to vegetables. Good enough, or would you like for me to draw pictures for you in crayon?
