Covid post - kids home from school today

Anyone else dealing with covid right now?
My daughter and wife tested positive for Covid this weekend. Mild cough, nothing more at this point. They both had it at Christmas, and it looks the same so far.
We assumed this could happen because our daughter was exposed to a confirmed case via her best friend last week.
Nobody else in the house is positive. No symptoms. But, the boys have to stay home thru Thursday because they are not vaccinated. They could have gone to school today if they were jabbed.
The girl that had covid that exposed my daughter... is vaccinated. LOL. The circular logic blows my brain.
So with 2 weeks left of school, including milestones and finals... they are still willing to let kids miss classroom time.
*not that it's required, but to head this off at the pass.
We are friends with the nurse for the area and her family, this is not something we could brush off. My wife is a special ed teacher, she can't go in if exposed.

Because she was exposed at length and was coughing, and my wife teaches special ed, and had been having face to face meetings with parents as recently as Friday. Because they had the same "symptoms" in December and we suspected they would be positive. And they are.

I too get sick sometimes.

Haven’t even thought about covid in a LONG time. I don’t remember last time someone in my family was told to test. At least 8 months.

My son brought home a "cold". I got it now... It's an odd cold and seems to linger longer than normal with a really harsh sore throat. I suspect it's covid, but I'm not getting tested because they can't do anything with it.

I'm just saying that if you know the school is still doing this, and you know they are going to hold them home if they test positive and they'll miss end of year things, then failing to get them tested seemed like the best bet for the kids.
My youngest is a freshman this year and we carpool with another family. I drop off he and their kid and they pick up. Over the course of the past two week, both parents had gotten Covid and they're pretty left leaning and all vaxxed up, etc. I had zero concern about my healthy 15 year old getting this again (had it around Christmas/New Tears like everyone else...though we assume that because we didn't get tested then either.) They've already done their awards thing, but if he had not unless someone forced it or he was actually sick there's no way I'd have tested him and let the school know.

Hadn't heard anything for a while either. Are we headed to the point where kids will be asked to stay home if their siblings are sick with anything?

I could get you a positive COVID test today-by (checks watch) 3 O'clock.
WITH polish.
fricking flip a coin, at least you have a chance of being negative.

I still would not have tested, friends with the nurse or not...

Not a good enough excuse. QUIT GETTING TESTED!!!!
She should just wear a mask if she thinks she has it.

Last week a fella came to the house to add some gutters and he looked a little like he was feeling poorly. I asked him if he wanted some Tylenol and he said ok and then fessed up that he tested positive for covid but was still quite able to work. He wanted to know if I wanted him to leave, I said "hell no!" I insisted he remove his mask, shook his sweaty hand briskly and went inside and told my wife. She shook my hand and went back to work at her computer. Well, awesome news, I think I got it and don't quite feel 100%. I had both versions and was just a little achy both times foe a couple of days. My wife has been kissing me all weekend. way more than usual, and she laughs every time.
No tests or vaccines for me, I love real antibodies!

To the downvoter - why don't you come over to my house tonight and drink a few beers. Bring your family and friends!

My oldest was "sick" a couple of weeks ago. Took him to the Dr because he had a low grade fever. Dr asked if he was vaccinated, read his que card and moved on. The Dr never tested him or suggested testing him for covid or flu. Kept him home for the long Easter weekend and back to school.
