Cotton and Gowdy pitch more control for Congress under Trump

I always have been a huge fan of Gowdy...sorry if Germans, but found this interesting. They show their appreciation for probably the only candidate to pull this off for the Republican party and all of a sudden, they want to get tough.

To a certain degree, Congress doing what the constitution says they should do, and the President not engaging in things he shouldn't be doing is a solid way to MAGA.
I just wonder why all these Obama fighters weren't so big on fighting Obama, but now they want to try to put brakes on the train and keep Trump from MAGA.
What gives, GOPe?

Because it isn't about GOP vs DNC. It's about the ruling globalist elite vs the regular people.

Maybe he has me fooled, but I don't think this describes Gowdy - unless it was just for show. He never would have gone after that IRS bitch or that c_u_n_t, Hillary Rodham Clinton the way he did.

Gowdy has been railing on this for a while. Probably knew they wouldnt be able to get Obama onboar.

If you watch gowdy, he is all about separation of powers and checks and balances. That speech about Obama bypassing congress was epic. He has always wanted executive power kept in check.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I could see Ryan talking this kind of crap, but Gowdy always talked tough on Obama..."the power of the purse", but I guess that's all it was. Now they're going to get tough?

This is a good thing. No matter what Obama thinks we do not live in a dictatorship.

I'd prefer it have happened earlier but how's as good a time as any. We shouldn't want a president with too much power just because our guy won.

I guess. It just seems to me like they should show a little appreciation for pulling this off. Trump busted his arse to get them in the position they now possess.

Yeah. I've watched almost every video on YouTube...big fan. I get it. Was hoping (like many) he would get the AG position.

I 100% support this. The last two Presidents have done more to strip power from the legislative branch than the 10 before them combined. We need a redistribution of power out of the executive.
You can't have it both ways. Nobody liked Obama's executive orders and rightfully so.

Fix it AFTER Trump reverses all of the bullshite.
That's why there is a leftward ratchet in politics. Republicans get in power, want to do things the "right way", don't get shite done. Dems get in power, don't give a shite about anything but their agenda, perfectly happy to lose 60 seats if they can really frick the country because they know how wishy washy the public is and they have most of the media spinners on their side.

Ya'll, they are just talking about checks & balances, which is a good thing a ran amuck under Obama. They are saying now that Trump has won & they are on his team, things can balance out like they are SUPPOSED to:
quote:
Gowdy and Cotton on Friday framed the Trump presidency as once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when Republicans could restore constitutional balance without rousing suspicions that their desire to clip the wings of the presidency is politically motivated.

The vast majority of things that Obama has done have been done by Executive Order. Trump can undo all of those in week one. He doesn't need Congress for any of that. Conversely anything he does by EO can be undone by a Dem a follows him.
Better to pass laws that have to be repealed.
