Connecticut gun owners line up to register firearms

Registration = eventual confiscation

quote:

A long line of people stood outside of the Public Safety Building in Middletown all day Thursday to register firearms. Specifically, anything the state considers an assault weapon or a high capacity magazine must be registered before Jan. 1, 2014.

"If they were trying to make them illegal, I'd have a real issue, but if they want to just know where they are, that's fine with me," said Charles Gillette, who was registering magazines.

"I understand why they're doing it, but I don't think it's constitutional," said Scott Boccio, who was registering guns.

And as the news story said.. today they're legal citizens. If they don't register, tomorrow they're felons. Ridiculous.

Look at these people who are willing to compromise with anti 2nd amendment loons and laugh at them. They're playing right into their hands.

The aforementioned loons know they can't repeal the 2nd amendment with a cannonball shot to the head so they have to do it by a thousand cuts; in other words, "common sense compromise".

Hard to believe CT has such a large number of gun makers there.

Of course not as many as their used to be.

Very similar to the tactics of the anti-abortion gang.

I hate abortion but this is true.

I'm one of those people who only support it in cases of rape, incest, and mother's health.

In 5 years we will look back on CT and the other states with registration and point out that the gun people were right. Registration leads to confiscation...

Truth.

Liberals there are one step closer to where they want to be. They are overjoyed over this.

Wow.

Talk about denial. He really doesn't see where this is headed, does he?

Well, that's the Puritan legacy for you. They left behind a culture of law & order that still lingers. If the government mandates gun registration, New Englanders* will register their guns.

*Except the Irish, they have a healthy disregard for authority.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I've read that Connecticut had a reputation for having large numbers of Tory Loyalists.

It looks like blind adherence to statism is still in their blood.

They will slowly make ownership of these weapons so much trouble, most people won't bother. Once they have a list of owners, expect to see additional requirements like special permits, taxes, and tracking of ammo purchases. They might even create special storage requirements and inspect homes to verify proper storage, why did you buy a ton of ammo, etc. They could even use info from health care providers to take your firearms away.

Eventually, your family members will be required to turn in your guns when you die. So, if you like your weapon you can keep your weapon - but the State will make ownership so burdensome, many will opt out.

Pretty sure there will be a LOT of "boating" accidents/lost firearms.
