All I remember about Clay Schexnayder is how he remodeled his living quarters with taxpayer money and brought in his stepsons to do work. Anytime a politician brings in relatives to do work and get paid by the taxpayers, you can smell the rot of corruption and wrongdoing.
I, too, will be voting for Trosclair.

I don't know any of these people personally and have not decided who I will vote for but Mr Trosclair is running hard on going back to paper ballots. The Louisiana voting system is not connected to the internet at any point except from a clerk of court to the Secretary of state. Each voting precinct can be audited and the totals submitted can be tracked back to a clerk's office. We do need to pay more attention to absentee ballots and making sure that voters are legitimate, but paper ballots will set up back decades. Other states have real problems with being able to audit results. We don't really have that problem. I guess it has been since our candidates have generally been so crooked that we have multiple layers to try to stop fraud.

It does not need to be connected to the internet to have voting manipulated. People need to understand this.

This sounds good but La votes are NOT counted here. Where are dominion votes counted? Indiana where the business is registered? Eastern Europe? No one really knows and Dominion is not forthcoming about this. Wouldn't you feel better if your vote was counted in La?

This is utter nonsense, we did it for decades and had the votes counted by dinnertime. Paper ballots make it impossible to cheat.

Agreed that our current methods are pretty clean and traceable. The concern going forward is the push for Ballot Marking Devices. After all the flimflam of the committee meetings, the takeaway recommendation was for BMDs which is what they were gunning for from the onset. Sharon Hewitt being one of the BMD backers. I'm not a fan of hers over this.

We did put in an information request for the precinct papers throughout the state so we could reconcile them with the published totals from SOS website. They came back with a bagillion dollar cost and very long timeframe to produce. Improvement potential here is to have the results printed on standard paper and not the receipt paper that is so costly to scan.

Then again, there are receipt scanners that are very cheap that would do the job easily.

Election Day and Early Voting are 2 different animals and they are both allegedly counted locally. The day-of voting produces totals per machine that are printed in triplicate and signed by polling commissioners then sent to different locations. A copy is posted at the voting location that anyone can access or they can request from local clerk of court. These totals can be reconciled by anyone against the results posted on SOS website.

Early voting... well that is a bit of a mess to reconcile. Since the precincts are all mixed together it isn't so easy to reconcile and isn't the best situation for sure. The process is to lock all the machines in a warehouse or room and not to access them till voting day. On voting day the thumb drives with results are pulled and delivered to the registrar of voters to be counted with the mail in votes i think. So the process is supposedly local. No doubt there is a whole lot of room for improvement on early voting and potential for shenanigans. Allegedly locally done though.

NOTE: All software used in the process is indeed Dominion. Don't be fooled when they tell you that Louisiana does their own programming. What they mean is they use Dominion software to CONFIGURE the layout. Dominion software is indeed used to aggregate the results. This is done at the Clerk of Court level maybe (potential for shenanigans here).

They should post totals at every level of the process, precincts, Clerks and State.

Some disagreement here. Spoiling a paper ballot would be easy to do. The other concern is that it is very very hard for the common person to audit the process. We have already seen in other states how hard it is to get the paper ballots produced after the fact. Even if we did get our hands on them, who is going to count them by hand?

Personally I like our current process in theory. With adjustments it would be a good mix of simplicity and transparency. But alas, looks like we are leaving this behind for BMDs, which have clearly been problematic in 2020. That is how they are planning to placate the masses who are asking for paper, with a system proven to be trouble.

Trosclair would be a disaster.

There’s an SOS debate scheduled for 9/23, I believe.
