Per Wikipedia:
quote:
Carnaval de Puebla celebrates the May 5, 1862, Battle of Puebla, at which Mexican forces defeated French invaders
quote:
In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has taken on a significance beyond that in Mexico.[3][4][5][6] In the U.S. the date has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture. In Mexico, the commemoration of the battle continues to be mostly ceremonial, such as through military parades.
I hope these celebrations are canceled all over the US.
"Mexican-American culture." If they're so appreciative of American opportunities that they'll leave the culture they love so much, they should adopt and celebrate AMERICAN culture. They can be proud of their heritage without celebrating a Mexican holiday.

Then don't have the balls to celebrate St Patrick's Day then, a-hole.
Is that being celebrated by illegal Irish immigrants?
Posted on 3/19/17 at 4:23 pm to Jbird
That's fine. Just means that much more resources on 5/5 for San Antonio, Houston, Austin & Dallas.

This thread shows how collectively retarded this board is. Tons of people on this board are no better than the SJWs who want people to have free expression so long as that expression involves their opinions. Other than that, frick these people to have a parade.
Here's how you all basically sound:
"Yeah, frick those Irish! Go back across the stream and don't let anyone else have fun with or celebrate this culture. Land of the Free, right?"

frick their "vibrant culture".
America is the Great Melting Pot. People came here and assimilated. We became one. AMERICANS! That is what made us strong.
You want to be Mexican and celebrate Mexican culture? Keep your God damn arse in Mexico.

But we celebrate St Patrick's Day and Mardi Gras. Those are not of American origins. So long as they assimilate, what's the problem with giving them a single day to celebrate their culture? I'm fine with it and will join them in it.
The Mexican culture is unique and eccentric. I don't want it to be the status quo here anymore than the Irish, but there's many reasons to celebrate their culture. America is the only other country to really appreciate them, and I think that's a positive attribute of our country.

What I'm hearing is we want to party with Irish-Americans and Mexican-Americans while illegal aliens are thrown out!

The organizers cancelled it you nimrod. The legal Mexicans can have their party. They just did like you and pissed their panties out of fear for the ILLEGALS.

Which alone is worth celebrating. Yes Mexican culture is clearly inferior to American culture, but this is the same culture that brought us tequila and tacos. I'll give them a day to celebrate those.
