BTW, if this is what it's come to, I'd take the order, take the money, have some mechanical issues while making the shirts and have to refund the money when we didn't meet the deadline.

Why don't these private company's just say "Sure, we'll print the shirts for you. It will only cost $500 per shirt. When do you need them to be ready?"

As with the "Christian" baker debacle- both sides are being whiny little attention-ho' beeyotches.
Right or wrong, Lexington has the fairness ordinance that says a business open to the public can't discriminate. So there are 2 easy options: 1. Refuse the work citing inability to deliver the product (timing, availability of materials, whatever). 2. Accept the work, knowing full well that you're going to donate the profits to an organization that supports your views (NOM, AFA, etc.). If you refuse the work citing your belief that gays are icky, then get all butthurt when they pounce on you like a fat kid on cake, then congratulations- you have a complete lack of cause-effect reasoning skills.
If you take a GLBT printing job to a pretty clearly "Christian" company and expect them to not at LEAST give you a Chick tract, then see the italicized text above. If the company is NOT advertised as Christian, and you get a sanctimonious refusal, give them the bird and get in touch with Cafe Press or someone who doesn't give a carp what you want to print, so long as your Visa card is good. Then, for purely spiteful reasons, send the refusing company a copy of the paid invoice with the total circled and labeled, "could be in your bank account, if you weren't such an idiot."

I have and I smell bullshite.
1. When you google and you only find nutcases reporting something, it's usually bullshite.
2. There can be no such ruling unless there are local or state laws allowing for such. I can't believe Ky has such a law.

Read the linked story above. Like the Colorado baker case it is a local "fairness" ordinance; i.e. you cannot discriminate on race, gender, sexual identity, etc.
The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is not long for this world. I would expect they would be the target of state legislators; since the local ordinance is probably out-of-bounds.
These fairness ordinances should apply to non-creative items ie stock items off a shelf. I don't like the idea of forcing someone to create something they don't agree with. That is just awful.

Same opinion I've always had, I think most of these ordinances are bullshite. That includes zoning laws, blue laws, hrc laws. But if a community wants to pass stupid laws, let them pass them. Not my problem.
