LINK

He is the only one actively campaigning to keep it - but says that 20-21 senators are on his side and will block any attempt at changing the flag.

Unofficially, someone in his bloc suggested requiring the Mississippi colleges to pull out of the NCAA and compete against themselves if need be. Luckily they were told that would not fly.

Mississippi cant get out of its own way.

Glad to see someone fighting for what they believe instead of relenting to the pressure from outside forces.

Explain to me why the will of the people, via voting, should be ignored.

I don’t live in Mississippi so I don’t have a dog in the fight. It appears to me the flag is simply a target for SJWs to advance an agenda against the voting population’s will

Did I miss the NCAA getting in on the SEC tactics?

Exactly.

This shite should be put up to a vote on the ballot box anyway.

McDaniels getting involved seems to be the universal sign for “GOPe is about to frick up.”

So what?

Chris McDaniel is only doing what his constituents elected him to do. In our system of government that is his job. Whether you, me, or John Q Public that lives in (insert state not named mississippi) agree with the decision doesn’t matter, if it’s the will of the MAJORITY of people in Mississippi to keep the current flag, then that is their prerogative and everyone else should leave them alone. There are bigger fish to fry in this country right now than whatever flag Mississippi is flying.

It shouldn’t. There is no excuse for this not to be put to a public vote.

If, as I understand to be the case, a majority of the people in the state want to change it, how is that giving in to outside forces?

They already did in 2001. 64% voted in favor of keeping the flag. It wasn't even close.

Hawaii has the Union Jack on their flag. Where's the outrage about that?

Or you mean to say "Those yokels will vote until they vote the way I like".
