Decision Desk HQ? @DecisionDeskHQ

Senator Chris Coons will NOT vote for Neil Gorsuch and will not vote to advance his nomination

That's 41 senators against cloture, the magic number to trigger the nuclear option.

Prepare for fireworks

Thanks, Democrats.

Bunch of idiots had to go and create such a moronic rule change.

What the hell were y'all thinking?

It will not change a thing. Dems are acting like babies and need to be treated as such. They will cry about Merrick Garland every time a SCOTUS judge comes up for nomination.

His diatribe was so fraudulent. What a waste of air. Just say "you started it" and shut the frick up.

Pretty lame of them to get up on a cross for such a qualified, non-radical candidate

But they're all drama queens so I can't say I'm surprised

And means the next (few?) nominees POTUS Trump puts forward get in easily too. If he wishes, he can set a really far right court for the next 30-40 years.

Keep on self destructing Dems, hand Repubs an easy win on everything where they only have to show up to pass whatever they like.

Dems are so f*cked once one of their liberal court judges croaks or retires and they use the nuclear option to get someone even more conservative than Gorsuch in there.

I'm indifferent in this, it was likely going to die during this administration either way and its probably not worth a hit to base enthusiasm to "keep the powder dry" given that McConnell would just kill it anyway.

Garland established the new rules. Basically, you can't confirm a Justice unless you have a partisan Senate Majority regardless of qualifications.

I was against the rule change from the start, but the Democrats dug their own hole with this one.

I doubt they kill the legislative filibuster though- its too useful to both minority members and majority members that need political cover on locally unpopular bills (they can abstain knowing the bill will die without having to take the risk of bucking their party)

Good. When Kennedy and Ginsburg retire we are swinging hard right baws.

The most laughable sound bite was Schumer bluffing with his busted hand turned over and also acting like it's his job to nominate justices. He actually said "let's work together to find a moderate, mainstream candidate" as if he has any say in the nomination process. What a little weasel.

Garland suspended the filibuster for judicial appointments?
