If we needed missiles for drones that would make sense. Drones are easily taken down by a Phalanx system.
I’m not saying you can’t overwhelm with low tech, but drones and hypersonic missiles just aren’t in the same universe.

The agreements we make not being worth the paper they're printed on is a big reason why the rest of the world can't wait to abandon us and the dollar. That "Pray we don't alter the deal further" BS makes us the bad guys, not the good guys.

You're just now figuring this out?
The status quo works for everyone. Taiwan doesn't declare independence; therefore, the PRC can pretend that it's their territory. We maintain the illusion with our so-called "One China Policy" so that we don't rub China's nose in it publicly and force a confrontation. It's the best way of doing business with Taiwan while allowing Xi to save face.
