Perhaps we should ban the surnames of Washington, Jefferson, Lee, and Jackson. Well, maybe not. There are a lot of black people who have them.

Lets just make it equal. Since you're saying there are some decent whites (pff like any of us are) and then there are bad whites (confederates) why don't we just take down everything labeled after another human? No matter the color, race, gender, ect. All of it's bad. All black memorials, all white ones, just take everything down.
I don't know what we would replace it with yet since we aren't going to be using any persons of history.

This is the least surprising news of the day. The "confederate monuments" were just the tip of the iceburg. Once some city/state leaders acquiesced to their demands it was an open invitation to demand additoinal action getting further and further away just from statues of confederate generals. The leftist/liberal/progressive ideology MUST have a "victim" to fight for. A "problem" to solve. Otherwise, they become irrelevant. As soon as all the confederate statues come down, there will be another group of "symbols of hate" that need to be eradicated Therefore, you're going to see increasingly absurd demands such as tearing down statues/monuments of early Presidents, or Joan of Arc, or renaming a school in Oregon because it had the word "Lynch" in the name (notwithstanding the fact that the school was named after someone with the surname "Lynch" who happened to donate the land upon which the school was built)
The same thing happened with civil rights. There were fights to give black people equal rights (a noble endeavor) then women equal rights (a likewise noble endeavor). Today we are having fights to give Transgenders "equal rights", which is so far afield from where the civil rights movements started. The reason is because the left has to constantly have a victim to fight for, even if they simply have to create one (no matter how absurd).
