Would the cdb song "the south's gonna do it again" be banned from today's radio? I haven't heard it in a good while.

David Alan Coe's underground CD is fricking awesome.

Even better that he had a black drummer in the band on that album and DAC himself was dating black chicks.

One of my favorites is Alabama's " Song of The South"

Two of the greatest lines ever written in American music.....

"Daddy was a veteran, a southern democrat....they ought to get a rich man to vote like that...."

And, nearer and dearer....

"Daddy got a job with the TVA.......bought a washing machine and then a Chevrolet......"

Been there and done that....about to lose what little we had in 1992 then TVA came calling and like many a southern working man once again the New Deal pulled us out of the hole....

And that ain't even mentioning ".....but Mr Roosevelt is gonna save us all...."

Lots of folks in the south have forgotten what life south was like in most of the south before TVA and the new deal.........call me a commie all you'd like but those lyrics rang true with our grandparents......

that's because the only people who could remember those times are now dead thank god. those people could also remember a time when blacks couldn't eat in the same restaurants as them and when fire hoses and German Sheppard's were set upon uppity Negro's. when my family left mass on Sunday's in 1965 the good Pentecostals in hope arkansas would put flyers under the windshields of our cars telling us that catholics would go to he11....good times...good times! the fact that you romanticize those times tells us all we need to know about you friend.

i'm sorry your granny was a racist hopefully she didn't end up in he11.

i'll tell you what gives me a chubby...the fact that every election in the south is effectively over when republicans vote in the primary and how that must make people like you feel!

Democrats quit being the party of the working man decades ago.

My granny was a black catholic woman so.....

The people may all be dead and gone but the renaissance brought on by commie programs like TVA are abundantly evident. Those republicans in the south you are bragging about ending elections before they start are the beneficiaries of massive social spending during the new deal and since. If it weren't for programs like TVA the rest of the south would look even more like West Virginia and Mississippi than it already does.
