Charles Barkley on players not visiting White House

I think it’s really unfortunate. I think that it’s an honor and privilege to go to the White House, no matter who the president is. And also, I thought it would have been an opportunity for those guys to sit down and talk to the president about some of the issues and concerns they had.
“We’re all concerned about police brutality. I’m concerned about DACA. They could have negotiated a sit-down instead of just coming in, do that informal stuff where he stands there and you get your jersey and everything. It’s unfortunate. It’s just really sad, to be honest with you. When guys start not going to the White House because they don’t like who the president is, I think that sets a bad precedent.

Sir Charles continues to be one of the few rational voices in the sports world

Didn't Tom Brady not attend Obama's whitehouse?

Not going to the whitehouse is one of the stupidest fricking things I've seen in a long time.
I didn't like Obama. I disagreed with probably 99% of his policy views. I thought, and still think, he was a narcissistic twit.
Having said that, I would have JUMPED at the chance to meet him in the whitehouse. He was the damn President.

I don't know, but what does that have to do with anything Chuck said?

He's right. Protesting gets you only so far. If you want to make progress you have to have dialogue. What better opportunity than being at WH? But its not about making things better it's about selfish PR.

But you have pride in being a citizen of this great nation. See the difference in those that don't want to go?

100% agree.
I don't like his politics at all but I would never turn down a chance to meet him, especially in the Whitehouse.

The left doesn't a dialogue. They just want everyone else to bend to whatever their emotional breakdown of the day is.

Going from memory, but I think you are correct. And it was a dick move.
I think (and I could be wrong) that he did make up some kind of non-political excuse, but it was pretty thin.

This is the gayest shite that I have read. Seriously.

As a group, it's foolish to put professional athletes in the 'sharpest-tools-in-the-shed' category...

Bradys mother is very ill and was the reason he didnt go

I know and thats unfortunate. They take an extreme view then demonize anyone who disagrees with it. And people are fed up with it.

Right, but that would counter their true agenda: Self promotion under the guise of political activism on the football field
They really don't want to change anything; they just want to scream the loudest and receive all the attention.

You just described this country in general in 2017.

Well, per usual, they have zero self-awareness so they don't see the irony in their statement.
10 years ago, I'm sure all these players aspired to be Donald Trump, but now he's bad because it's hip to hate him.
