How can someone live in a violent area and not give a shite about the violence all around them?

I ask that to you Strong Safety because apparently, you're OK with it. I actually do care a lot because it's where I and the majority of my family lives, and have lived since before New Orleans was even incorporated.

I think everyone would love for the violence in all communities to stop.

Why does this not surprise me.

So he threatened violence as a way to argue that New Orleans isn't violent? SMH

Mr. King was executing traditional “White Privilege” for criticizing a mostly minority city.

So what privilege are minorities executing when criticizing a mostly majority (redundant) region?

Would it be black privilege, Latino privilege, and so on? Pretty sure it's simply an American right called freedom of speech.

StrongSafety is a massive racist and believes that you are automatically racist if you are white.

It isn't worth the time.

For what it is worth, I disagree strongly with a lot of SS's statements and I don't think that is true.

So.... facts are now part of white privilege?

Is it whitesplaining to criticize minority cities?

I grew up out there where Cedric comes from. I know the area. I watched as his neighborhood became "da hood" I remember when it was relatively safe except for some high school kids trying to steal car radios. Then I watched as the area became increasingly violent...The fact that the violence increased as the the amount of Section 8 housing and government vouchers grew seems to be very causative to me. Richmond would do to get his butt back into the old neighborhood and maybe see how it has changed. grocery stores.....no commercial shopping .....no decent places to eat....depressed home values.....high rates of property crime, lots of assaults, home burglary....did I mention lots of murders now....yeah lots of murders.

I haven't lived there since I went to law school in the late 1980's....but I do keep track of things there. Still have lots of friends whose parents both black and white (mostly black) who still live there and Cedric does not do a damned thing to help them

Maybe he could regale us with his professional opinion on what it was that closed that nice Lake Forest Mall that offered so much to shoppers, including this area's only ice skating rink - an attraction so unusual for a southern locale at the time.

Or maybe that other exercise in futility, Six Flags.

An expected candidate for mayor, Frank Scurlock, who was arrested recently at the site of the now missing Davis Monument, is a member of a group that is trying to develop the Six Flags site, but is complaining about the resistance. He's another one disgusted with the business attitude here.

Good idea. But he'd rather joke about Kellyanne Conway.

He and Mitchie get mad when people speak the truth about how much of a shithole NOLA is and how crime and violence are out of control. Both were elected to try and fix it but do nothing. They can have that place.

“White Privilege”

I think we need to start substituting "two parent privilage" for "white privilage"

There are quite a few black men at work who are very successful. Most, if not all, have both parents still together.

He went onto to say, “If the gentleman (KING) persists on it then let’s go in the back and have conversation on New Orleans.”

Then Richmond upped his threat by angrily saying to King, “If it takes walking across over there then I am prepared to do that to.”

Behaves like his constituents. I guess he's a great representative for them. How sad that he threatens violence. What an idiot.
