quote:

Carter Page, a former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, informed the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that he will not be cooperating with any requests to appear before the panel for its investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and would plead the Fifth, according to a source familiar with the matter.

quote:

Though Page’s resistance to testify may delay his appearance before the panel, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.) have threatened to compel any official or Trump-connected figure who tries to evade the committee, including through the use of subpoenas.

Page is smart here. I wouldn't testify in front of that committee if I had gone to Russia and been under FBI surveillance. That is a great way to get nailed with perjury.

failing to provide testimony is indicative, especially taking the 5th. But it rarely truly connects the dots.

After the stupid press conference and chart they put up last week that showed how many hours and dollars they've wasted to find no evidence, I wouldn't testify before this political circus either.

Or it could be that if he doesn’t say anything, he has less of a chance of a frivolous investigation into himself

And I didn't say that was why he wasn't testifying either. I said I wouldn't testify after the pr disaster last week. What would be my motivation to? They've admitted time and time again they have no evidence. They've wasted almost a full year and who knows how many millions of dollars and still have nothing. I would be inclined to say nah, I'm not participating in the sham.

Please warn the board when a Politico article is posted.

I don't want to give that site any clicks.

TIA

Two different situations. You're talking about one situation where people actually died, and there was plenty of evidence to investigate not only the manner in which they died but why they died to begin with. The other situation involves allegations that no one can prove, cant provide conclusive evidence that collusion occurred, cant provide a specific statute that shows that collusion is even a crime, cant provide evidence of an actual hack of DNC servers because the FBI wasn't allowed to even look at the servers, and on and on. There was plenty of damning evidence lined up against Clinton, but no one had to balls to actually do something with the evidence. What evidence do we have against Trump? Well according to the press conference last week, absolutely nothing. Don't worry though, they're gonna keep throwing money down a rat hole to keep looking for evidence of a crime they can't even say was committed.

I wonder if immunity for Page is on the table. I’ve always thought it was either he or Manafort if it was done.

I am glad we are spared the dog and pony show so Schiff and Warner can be partisan hacks and Burr can play democrat good ole GOPe boy. Page is a spook, he did not commit any crimes against the U.S. or collude with Russia.

It's his right to do so.

I just note the change from "I have no intention to plead the Fifth, since I've never done anything wrong."

He used to be eager to testify.

With Mueller looking to manufacture charges against anyone he can, you'd be a moron to talk to Congress.
