Can we still discuss Climate Change or is it all Comey?

I ask this because last week Climate Change was all the rage (PCA) but now there are no threads about it. Yes, Comey's testimony is very important but it only deals with one country (USA) while climate change deals with the entire world. If it was as important as indicated last week it should still be important this week regardless of Comey's testimony.

There is a lot of back and forth about whether climate change is real or not. If you don't believe climate change is real you really need to have your head examined (for injuries). I think most, if not all, will agree that climate change is real. However, I believe that there is a huge split of opinions on what is causing climate change (man made vs. nature).

I believe that climate change is real and is happening all the time. We see it in shifts of climate across the globe and has been recorded over thousands/millions of years (Ice age, no ice, ice age, no ice, ect..). Last week there were threads about scientist agreeing 97% it was real and man made and other articles saying the consensus was less that 5%(or some smaller number) depending on what the criteria of the study was.

As stated above, I agree that there is climate change and I'm willing to concede that the ambient temperature is rising. Per study's (no link, this is off of memory) it has risen about .2-.5 degrees centigrade over the past 50-70 years and is projected to continue to rise up to 2 degrees centigrade +/- over the next 100 or so years.

My questions is...is there a scientific consensus on what the optimal temperature for Earth should be? Is it the current temperature? Was it the temperature 1000 years ago? 10,000 years ago? 1,000,000 years ago? What temperature do we need to be at to sustain the most life on Earth?

The only way you can talk about climate change this week, is if Comey releases a memo about Trump "hoping he can let the polar ice caps go."

Why discuss it? According to the pearl clutchers, we are all about to die because Trump pulled out the Paris Agreement. Peace be with you, fam

Is there? I mean among people who might be remotely qualified to talk about it.

There is no point in debating climate change because the debate is between people that want to talk about it and people that consider it a religion.

The people that consider it a religion make fun of religion.

The people that don't consider it a religion are invested in AGW as a means by which to implement Socialsim after they failed to do so openly.

No honest debate.

Once it became climate change I think the majority of people started to accept that it's happening. The cause is where the US is split. Rest of the world has at least a majority that believes it's effected by man. It being a party split in the US is what makes it difficult to come to an agreement on.

The big question is: how much climate change is man made vs the natural cycle for Earth?

Is the North pole losing ice? Yes. But for every 1 mile of lost ice, the South pole has gained 1.2 miles of ice. Why is this not discussed more often?

Sorry to nit-pick, but we have not recorded the temperature for thousands/millions of years. We have guessed based on Earth cores data.

I think Global Warming is inevitable. Can man reverse it? I doubt it.

It's funny. I'm up in Idaho bear hunting right now. The locals are all talking about how hard this winter was with record snowfall. Hell, it is supposed to snow tomorrow!!! Hard pressed to convince these ranchers about global warming.

War Tiger
You are not nit-picking about actual record temps in 1000/10000000 years. I was referring to science "cores" of those ages (I apologize for being more specific).
That's why I said climate change and not warming. You somewhat prove my point. We are experiencing a warming event. My main question that I would like answered is what is the correct optimum temperature that the Earth should sustain from here to eternity?

the default state of the earth is to not have polar ice caps or extensive glaciers at all. Anything short of that is colder than "normal"

Answer me this, Einstein.

What is the optimal temperature for the earth?

Well, Albert...that is the question I posed in the OP so I was hoping you could provide me with the answer as I don't know the optimal temperature for the Earth.

Then shut the frick up with this:

No one is arguing the climate changes you retard. It's been doing just that for 4.5 B years.

So, what's the point of your thread?

Everyone needs their heads examined because the climate is changing?

Thread sucks.
