Can the country as it stands be mended?

It's a damn shame but I think I'm to the point where I think it's worth exploring options to split the country in two separate entities. The division on the major issues seem impossible to reconcile. Too many people feel too strongly that I don't see anyway anyone will ever be happy with any solution from the other side.
Seems like everyone would be much happier if given a chance to live in a place where they could agree on things without everyone flipping out acting like it's doomsday every time the other party wins.

I honestly believe that eventually the United States of America will be balkanized. Maybe not anytime soon in the next few decades or even this century but it will happen.
The cultural and political differences are just too big with each region and its such a dysfunctional relationship as it stands right now.

Yes. It is as simple as both sides stop using fear as a political weapon. We need to get back to ideas being themes of debate, not name calling and fear mongering.

allow california to secede peacefully, and force all libtards to move there....extend the wall all the way around california and keep them from coming back....cut off all freshwater supplies and gasoline, heating oil....no social security, or any other federal benefit paid and a tax of 20% on any money sent there, or pensions not originated from there.....then drop a bomb on new york city and problem solved

The left will never allow it, especially with Trump in office. His win embarrassed them on a deeply personal level.

The Left has morphed into a seriously totalitarian movement at the present time. I doubt whether the bulk of those out mindlessly parroting the slogans, burning flags, dressing like female private parts, and protesting their little hearts out grasp this reality, or comprehend that their efforts may soon lead to national calamity and their inevitable downfall. Nope. Lincoln had it right. We go at it together. The first split will start the beginning to the end. I would rather have another civil war than split. The melting of different views keeps us in the middle, and won't let extremists win.

We need a camp border that runs south to north halfway through Cali, then takes a turn for the coast 60 miles north of San Francisco. Cut off all transmissions from Hollywood, let them have award get togethers 365x24x7. Then start cleansing the cities by exporting libs from NY and Boston & the NC tech triangle out to the black zone. Profit.

Pat Buchanan said this 20 years ago. The Cultural differences between the South and New England have always existed and always will. Those regions have always been like a different country within one. I believe that this country is becoming as divided as it was in 1860.
