Can someone please explain to me how the Russians "hacked" the election?

To preface this, I am a software engineer by trade and have started and sold several internet companies (currently run a business in an unrelated industry)
Can someone please explain to me how the Russians "hacked" the election? Every time this question gets asked, the person being interviewed defers to something else as if they have no clue.
As a person that has vast knowledge of the inter workings of computer software and networking, SPECIFICALLY HOW DID THEY HACK THE ELECTION????? Please explain
Until this is answered, I'm not buying an ounce of this crap.

Nothing to explain bc state election systems were not hacked. It's a red herring.

That's because you are an ignorant, white supremacist who wants to put all homos in camps, ship blacks back to Africa, and ban muslims.

The irony is now the Democrats are trying to hijack it from Trump.

The Media bait and switch is to say the election was hacked when the DNC servers were in fact hacked.
In that sense the election was hacked away from that count Clinton.

The election wasn't hacked. The terms "election hacking" and "interference" are used to muddy the waters to make people think actual voting machines were infiltrated by Russians.

They are referring to the DMV emails which were hacked.
Not vote hacking.
Typical msm bait and switch.
Good thing the media lost all credibility.

Do we know this to be true? I have seen a report that said it was a leak and not a hack. Hard to tell what is news and what is fake though.

The DNC employees and Clinton campaign employees all supposedly received a spear-phishing email that told them their Google email password had been compromised and they needed to immediately click the attached link and change their password, which conveniently required your old password entered first.
And apparently some of them, including Podesta, fell for it.
So somebody got some email account passwords and simply logged into these people's email accounts and saved all the email histories.
That's one rumor. The other is that Seth Rich or some other DNC staffer who had access to DNC servers simply stole email histories from backups.
Either way this was low tech shite by "hacker" or computer programmer standards.
I'm pretty sure that password phishing is a bit below the capabilities of the Russian government. But this is what the "17 intelligence agencies" claim was used. They claim they located the email tracks and that they came from IP addresses in Russia.
Which is a crock since anyone who knows shite about computers knows you can proxy through IP's all over the damn world and mask where you're actually based.
So it's all speculation. But they won't admit that because they have an agenda against Trump.

Yes. Because they didn't.

Yeah, I get the phishing scheme. And also Podesta included his gmail username and password in another email that was released by Wikileaks's (retarded).
So that doesn't explain how they hacked the election. That is simply shedding light on the idiot campaign and the filth inside of it. I don't even see how that influences anything. The ONLY thing that would make since is someone also had the same kind of access to Trump's campaign and did not release it. But we know that didn't happen.
Wikileaks's wasn't interested in deciding an election. They simply wanted to cause chaos. It just so happened it was during an election.

I'm pretty sure that password phishing is a bit below the capabilities of the Russian government.
If only Seattle had decided to use the simpler method and run Lynch, maybe they would have had another Super Bowl.

quote:I've only seen a person or two (Professor from UM) actually argue the election was hacked. That was immediately refuted by 538, the upshot at NYT, etc. That professor has since walked back his comments.
So that doesn't explain how they hacked the election.
I think issues are being conflated by everybody (election, DNC leaks, hacking, etc.).

Then you should Google election hacking and read the news headlines most of which use the term "election hacking" in the headlines. They are being misleading on purpose.
