Can anyone tell me why ATC still exists in Louisiana?

We have massive budget deficits year after year...how does this agency still exist? There is nothing that they do that local police cannot do. At this point all they serve to do is write minors MIPS at tailgates and to stifle local breweries and restauraunts.

I could balance the budget in Louisiana, and even the entire country in one day.

But I'm a cold-hearted mofo.

if you don't have available transmission capacity, you are in bad shape

To single out ATC, you must be butt-hurt about something other than the Louisiana budget deficit.

Anyway, they are a self-funded agency. Their money comes from application fees, etc.

They are a revenue generating agency, even if it's at the expense of local business and their patrons.

Of course the drinking age should be 18, but that would cost ATC $$$, so that'll never happen.

Always a lame excuse. They could generate more revenue if their bureaucracy was absorbed by another agency.

Yeah I never understood why the state needs a whole agency devoted to harassing tailgaters and giving liquor licenses. Growing up in Nola, I didn't know what they even were. Never saw them at Mardi Gras or Saints games. Not until I went to LSU.

I triggered the frick out of some ATC agents before the ole miss game.

I said "this is a joke" and they took it personally. It must be depressing to be a grown man who runs around trying to give college kids MIPs for a living.

But do they even operate anywhere outside of Baton Rouge? I know they do licensing but as far as chasing MIPs, do they go to any other campuses? I've never seen them in Nola but maybe they are there.

I'm not saying I disagree, only that someone truly worried about the Louisiana deficit wouldn't be focused on ATC.

They're in Lafayette and NOLA a good bit. I was surprised at the number of Tulane people I knew who were cited.

The two posted up outside of our tailgate for Bama looked like they hated their lives.

Apparently you can't talk about small wastes of government money, because there are bigger wastes of money.

You might want to check Federal law on this.

You see it in talks about federal wastes. Someone proposes a cost saving initiative.

"That's just pennies" is the response.

So?
