There are some simulations on YouTube using DCS which gives you an idea of the carnage that would ensue if we went toe to toe in various scenarios. I would be more wary of the Chinese due to sheer numbers fighting over a very small area (I.e.Taiwan).

As someone who proudly served in the Marines for 8 years and was willing to fight/defend/die for my country, I’d never wish any of that on anyone “to see how we would fare”.

All these posts that call for NATO or us to become engaged have their roots in the fact that very few people on Earth today have ever lived through a real Peer on Peer war. A modern day war in Europe would kill Millons of people and destroy every countries economy. The unexpected and unintentional consequences would be massive.

Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it.

- First of all, you must be young and stupid for thinking about this and actually posting it.
- Second of all, if it would happen, you are not ready if it's on American soil.
- Thirdly, the US military would still crush any country!!! The military is bigger and deeper than Biden's leadership!

Just drone strikes, drone strikes, drone strikes, drone strikes. Our military is woke. Most fighting will be done with drones.

I don’t know if Russia would dominate us, but China and Russia together would be a real pain in the arse. Beyond this, who are our allies? Who is strong besides us?

You are both naive and just plain stupid

A hot war with Russia would not just be in the land in Europe. It would be in the air and sea. You think getting supplies from China/Asia are slow now….

And cyber attacks on targets in the US as well. Power grid attacks. Banking attacks. Air traffic control attacks.

Trump showed Putin what our military can do in open field in Syria when we kill 200 Russian mercs and obliterated they convoy

1. We’re behind in the technology race thanks to Obama and his 8 years of budget cuts to the military. We missed out on the hypersonic missile tech, among other things.

I don't think this is true. There may be some deficiencies here and there but the US military is still the most advanced and powerful in the world. China is probably the only country getting close. Russia is certainly not.

2. Our military leaders, like our politicians, are woke and more focused on diversity, inclusiveness, and equity, than in people who want to fight for our country.

While we do hear a lot of this "woke" bullshite from our high ranking military leaders, I don't think a woke, soft attitude in the military is as pervasive as people make it out to be. The actual tactical and front line leaders can still get shite done.

quote:

3. We haven’t done what it takes to win a war since WWII. Something changed in us when we dropped those bombs in Japan. Since then, we’ve gone at half speed, and our adversary has been not. We have invented all these rules of engagement to hold ourselves back, and probably gotten good people killed because of it.

This is a good point. Some of it is prudent and necessary though. As weapons technology and capability advanced mankind had to show power but restraint. The US being the #1 no questions asked military superpower for more than half a century has required the most restraint not to wipe nations off the face of the earth. But I agree with you that sometimes when the shite hits the fan it is better to unleash and end it quickly rather than show restraint and provide a false sense of security/embolden bad actors. It's a fine line though.

So you want to see a Nagasaki type event in the US? 75 years ago we opened that door. There is nothing to be gained from battling with Russia and China and they know this too

For the millionth time, Russia spends 7% of what we do on their military.

I feel like you people are crazy. money isn't everything. F35, zumwalt, rail guns.. failures and/or ENORMOUS money pits. plus our naval strategies (in particular) are outdated with our insistence on carrier groups. imagine if Russia sunk a couple trillion dollars worth of carriers/jets/personnel with 2 50 million dollar hypersonic missiles? Our spending didnt help us against Taliban..... or Vietnam... We are woefully inefficient in our dollars to production ratio. hell.. I work for the Missile Defense Agency. which is, what, like 40 years old now? sure. we've developed some cool things, but 40 years and tra trillions of dollars later and its all still defeatable by a few decoy missiles or a hypersonic missile.

a war against a near peer would be the end of the US, win or lose.

Is Biden or any member of the Clinton/Obama political tree commander in chief? If so I would take the other side.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but our unmanned aircraft, stealth aircraft, GPS, satellite defense/offense and precision striking is unmatched by Russia. Obviously they have the nuclear capacity to basically match so it's somewhat moot in that we could ever display our round-by-round dominance and take it to the scorecards for a 10-2 type unanimous decision.
