They should be more concerned about the lack of water for agriculture...

The hard workers will get their working Papers, pay taxes and help keep society rolling, pay for the Wall and the roundup of their Drug Cartel Illegal brethren. Trump is not going to let business - especially food independence - crash.

California farmers had best be worried about California secession and Nationalization of their farms...per the Venezuelan model.

Pay is pretty decent for having absolutely not skill.

The work is hard — but many jobs are hard. The thing that bothers me more is the low pay. With cherries, you earn $7 for each box, and I’ll fill 30 boxes in a day — about $210 a day. For blueberries, I’ll do 25 containers for up to $5 each one — $125 a day. With grapes, you make 30 cents for each carton, and I can do 400 cartons a day – $120 a day. Tomatoes are the worst paid: I’ll pick 100 for 62 cents a bucket, or about $62 a day. I don’t do tomatoes much anymore. It’s heavy work, you have to bend over, run to turn in your baskets, and your back hurts. I say I like tomatoes — in a salad. Ha. With a lot of the crops, the bosses keep track of your haul by giving you a card, and punching it every time you turn in a basket.

Two summers ago I drove from California to Sandpoint, Idaho...never saw a black or a white guy ever working on the highway jobs or on a tractor out on the farms...whatever...not my problem...I was reporting on a political topic which is so popular these days...and when I was on my way back to Louisiana and Florida, I stopped in Vail,Colorado and went to a Walmart outside of the town...struck up a conversation with a guy I suspected was an illegal...he told me that he paid his coyote $3500US to get him across the border and that he was now making $20/hr. as a carpenter building houses in Colorado...just reporting some facts...I'm out...

I have customers that were making decent money before the oil industry went way down recently. One was making 3,500 a week and the lowest I saw was 500 a week, but that was for the lowest paid helper available.

There's still work going on but not much in Louisiana...you have to go where the work is...same as it's always been...I have an International Teaching Certificate and have taught all over the place...
