Go Buckhead go!
and "et tu WSJ?"
lovely how they felt it necessary to label Buckhead as the "whitest part of Atlanta"

In Atlanta’s Buckhead Neighborhood, Rising Crime Fuels Move to Secede
quote:
ATLANTA—An increase in violent crime has spurred a movement in Atlanta’s wealthiest and whitest neighborhood, Buckhead, to push harder to secede and create a new city with its own police force. The idea, which has been gaining momentum over the past year, is raising alarm among Atlanta officials worried about a loss of population and tax revenue.
The Republican-majority state legislature, which just opened its 2022 session, is taking up proposed legislation this month for a referendum on Buckhead cityhood. Politicians in largely Democratic Atlanta oppose the idea.
Bill White, chief executive of the committee pushing Buckhead cityhood, said Atlanta hasn’t done enough to stem violence, car-thefts, drag-racing and other crimes that surged beginning in 2020, during the early stages of the pandemic and after civil unrest followed Black Lives Matter protests.
“They really don’t care about Buckhead,” Mr. White, said about city officials. “They just want the money.”

God Bless them, but it won't fix their geographic problem.

Having their own police force raises the chances that crime scenes actually get worked.

These splinter movements will happen all over the country.
Democrats and globalists (like the wsj) will fight them tooth and nail.
Atlanta is trying to assuage Buckhead residents and businesses by opening up a new police station and promising them 20 new cops.
I used to live on Westside and go to Buckhead several times a week for many, many years.
Now I live in Woodstock, haven’t been into the city but once in the past six months, and have no desire to go there again.

I hope the City of Lakeview is preparing to do similarly.

Whenever you see "Protests" substituted for "RIOTS" in a Media report, you can immediately distrust and discount the source because THE Agenda is first and foremost.
Buckhead -- should they win secession from being the cash-cow slave of Atlanta -- should re-allocate their savings to erect walls and hired security contractors.

only way to solve this, is to find some immigrants, who are skilled, and have them push the riff raff back towards atlanta.
if not for the Bosnians, South St.Louis/ south county would of been toast.

First off BS on it being called a white neighborhood.
Uncle lives there and used to have the two nicest malls in Atlanta a few hundred yards from him. Now, nobody goes there bc of the hood rats commit if crimes all day.
What they want is the tax dollars they spend to give them some safety.

Whitest and most affluent.
Yep. And crime is on the rise because of racial and cultural politics at play from the mayor's office.
This needs to happen. Bigly.

So, more than 2 white people live in Buckhead.

I left Atlanta for Bham in December or 2002
I am now thinking about leaving Bham to move further out...

Any data on how much that area contributes annual in taxes to the city?

I don’t know exact numbers but Buckhead is a big money area both in residents and in shopping.
Goes without saying that they are paying far more in taxes than they are getting back out from either Fulton County or the city of Atlanta.
Edit-
Article on estimated costs fo city of Atlanta, Atlanta schools
The loss is about $200m to Atlanta schools (1/3 of budget) and approximately $80-114m out of a $710m to the city of Atlanta (roughly 1/7 of budget).

Was just curious what % of Atlanta tax revenue comes from that area and they would lose.
I’ve never been to buckhead but not a fan of any of the other areas around Atlanta

Good effort, but you can't move the city......
Crime will not change.
