Broadwater has been robo calling in support of the rino Riser.

Broadwater is a big ole JBE machine guy masquerading as a conservative IMHO. I suspect if he is working for Riser then Riser is JBE's choice.

Vote for Schroder if you want a real conservative as treasurer.

JBE has to be for the democrat this first time but he knows the democrat is toast so I suspect he is behind Riser.

Rep. Chris Broadwater is also an attorney with the Cashe, Coudrain and Sandage Law Firm in Hammond. Ashley Edwards Sandage is JBE's cousin. Take it for what it's worth.

Wait... did you just call Schroder a conservative? You must not pay very much attention to session. He sat in ways and means and deferred numerous bills to limit or kill state incentives.

Also I cant take his ad where he says he will put a leash on government spending. The Treasurer does not have any authority over spending. All the Treasurer does is write his name and sit in on bond hearings.

He opposed all of Katrina Jacksons bills such as the one that cut all incentives by 25%.

He voted for both in committee and in the floor. JP Morrells film bill. SB 254, i think was the instrument.

Never considered Riser anyway.

Going with Schroeder as first choice.

It is a damning indictment on the people of Louisiana that they are not paying attention to the damage JBE is causing with his fetish for any and all taxes he can find and get passed and fattening state government up as much as possible at the expense of the taxpayer. Hopefully that will change by at least summer of next year.

If Jindal got the same kid gloves treatment from the state media that JBE is currently getting, he would've left office with an 80% approval rating.

I wonder what favors Riser is going to owe John Alario on the bond committee if he gets elected.

This is all correct imo. He had eight years to make a difference...almost all of it with a Republican governor. The result-nada. He is an arrogant arse looking for some rubes dumb enough to believe his bs. I won't vote for the Democrat, but to me, Schroder is the worst of the lot.

Broadwater supporting Riser is reason enough to vote for somebody else.

No more Edwards machine.

Broadwater is the guy that sponsored the bill and advocated for the right of the State Police to essentially act like a collection agency for old insurance fines. He basically put the fine so high that those who try to get right with the law have a hard time paying it.

If you ever moved out of state changed insurance and neglected to mail in your license plate guess what, Broadwater wants to fine you to the tune of 665.00 and he wants the State Police to be the collection arm. If you let insurance lapse on an old car that you don't use or sold off, he wants to fine you for the oversight of not sending in the plate. If you are poor and for some reason let your insurance lapse for a little while but you got it straight Broadwater wants you to pay a fine anywhere from 150.00 to 665.00.

I'm all for people having insurance on their vehicles and I'm not against fines for people who drive without it, but what Broadwater did was nothing short of a money grab for the state....$665.00 for a mistake because you did not leave Louisiana the correct way

So did Neil Riser, as a Senator, and he was closer to the Republican Governor than vast majority of other legislators. Instead, he chose to cut deals with John Alario.

And Angelle Davis was Jindal’s budget guru for his Administration, so...

So what? It is the Treasurer. It is the biggest do nothing job in state government.

If you can sign your name you are qualified for the job.

Angele Davis was Jindal's Commissioner of Administration for the first two years. So she worked directly for Jindal, but not when he was really doing some very "creative" budgeting. She is pretty straight-laced and has the most hands on experience dealing with the things the treasurer deals with.

Riser was there the whole time and was committee chairman of Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs (the tax committee). So was a key player, but not directly involved in the budget. However the Chair of Revenue and Fiscal Affairs does serve on the Bond Commission which is one of the Treasurer's important duties. The Treasurer chairs the Bond Commission.

Schroeder was definitely opposed to Jindal. But much like his role model Kennedy, he never proposed anything that made any sense. And as Treasurer he can keep lobbing hand grenades without having to deal with the shrapnel. Probably the least qualified of the three, but good enough that I wouldn't say he is unqualified.
