God damn it Trump is always 6 moves ahead of everyone else in the 3D chess game of life. It's unreal.

So why weren't you in Trump tower for an interview for a Trump advisory role? Coulda scored Mar-a-Lago free for life. In the short term this looks good to calm the hissy fits of faux outrage; but I like your long term goals. The KSA needs appeased but silently treated as the liars they are.

Could this be an easy way to get American troops into Syria and Yemen?

First to monitor and protect the safe zones. Then to launch an offensive when it's realized that the safe zones won't be safe unless the enemy is driven back and contained.

I doubt it. that isn't keeping with Trumps style IMO. Thank god Bolton isn't involved with this.

Very possible. I would actually support that IF Trump moves closer to Iran simultaneously. We have to rebuild that relationship, and there is no time like the present. IMO at least.

The warhawks would throw a bitch fit.

KSA needs to be put in time out, and the US needs to become an important part of the Iranian economy. That's pretty much the only way I can envision any kind of meaningful shift happening.

You mean we play politics rather than get played. I could dig that.

People are losing their damned minds on social media - as if it's the craziest thing ever (and Hitler-esque) to ban immigration from a handful of garbage countries for a couple months to revamp vetting efforts. Nobody has a right to immigrate here. If we decide that the risk is too high, we are within our rights to shut the door.

What is the problem with helping from a distance? We supply food and safety but keep our own citizens safe, as well. It's smart.

I would apply for the DOS if we started doing that. seriously.

Iran has been amazingly efficient in capitalizing on US foreign policy. Ahmadinjad was a master blade runner. BHO had a chance to let nature take its course witu Iran's ties to Syria and Iraq, but he just HAD to get into the fight and probably solidified Iran's confidence in its irregular war strategy.

They will throw money and clandestine agents at the problem... if they do anything in Syria at all. Saudi has a significant amount of influence agent operations in the region, and they have varying levels of influence in Syria too. They can just pull the lever and put out the word to their surrogates to lay off of certain people /areas/tribes and they can feed those people money to keep them on the wagon. Just like Salmon did with his people in KSA.

I agree that this is a long term type of agreement. Honestly, I wouldn't go this route, because I don't trust the deep state in KSA to avoid creating an even bigger problem, and this "joint" agreement could tie the US to any significant fall-out. I would tell KSA that we aren't going to give them lethal aid, ans that we are putting a temp hold on their 60,000,000,000 dollar arms deal until they sit down with Iran and the Houthis over the Yemen problem.

Then I would tell them that we will be embedding USSOF in with their maneuver and air units to keep an eye on how they are using our lethal aid.

I wouldn't be making any deals over Syria without Iran and Russia involved.

You have the best words.

you wanna apply to State with me and kick some arse?

I'll need a Navy guy, because my policy would hinge on the Navy almost entirely.

Mate, how's working for the new boss? Have you informed anyone that you'll be on the Elizabeth Warren train in 2020?

The Shia aren't to be underrated. I have some theories as to why they seem to be so damn charismatic, as well as very good at what they do.

Funny you should mention that. I'm shopping some private sector stuff related to corporate espionage, but I considered taking the FSOT this cycle. May take it in June.

Same as the old. We spend a lot of time scratching our heads. Though I wasn't really in the same circles last time a new admin came in.

Wtf has Obama been doing for the past 8 years?

Trump is going to hit every campaign promise and more in his first 100 days.

Maybe that is why Barron and Melania didn't bother moving to DC, Donald will be home by Easter.
