Meh. It's been on circa. Not with the specificity of these reports, but they are both disciplined and accurate in their reporting. So a reasonable person has already concluded that at a minimum it needs to be looked at. The rest is message board and partisan noise.

The obama administration did this, weaponized the IRS against political opponents, and had that slush fund where they extorted defendants in federal cases to donate their "fines" to that sluch fund for left wing causes.

Rosenstein, by appointing Mueller, has recognized that a criminal investigation of these matters is warranted. That's a part of the special counsel statute. I think we know that the FBI will be pursuing criminal charges against the hackers and possibly anyone who helped them. In addition, it appears that the investigation of Mike Flynn has been folded in, possibly Paul Manafort too, and possibly others. On top of all that, it's a counterintelligence investigation that will endeavor to understand and neutralize any threats against the United States. It's the counterintelligence angle that gives the investigation a wider scope.
