just to be clear, if Comey stated that Trump made this order, I absolutely would not care and would defend Trump against hysterics

I never said it was either. Lynch asking Comey to lie to the American people and possibly Congress is a serious offense.

Lying to public is politics 101. I'm not rallying pitchforks over that. I always assume we are being lied to.
I don't know what you are referencing concerning the lying to Congress part.

The timing and context of the statement would be critical.
Was it early in Trump's presidency? Was that statement made when the two were alone or with others?

It is not just the semantics of "matter" vs "investigation". Comey stated today, in the context of this Lynch stuff, that it was ordered with the intent to continue the Hillary AND Obama false claims that Hillary was not under investigation while the entire time she was indeed under investigation.
